Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment said: Lam Dong province currently has 337 codes for durian growing areas for export. Of which, Area 1 (former Lam Dong province) has 197 codes for durian growing areas with a scale of over 8 thousand hectares and 37 packaging facilities with a factory scale of over 61 thousand m2 for export; Area 2 (former Binh Thuan province) has 26 codes for durian growing areas with a scale of over 1,300 hectares and 12 packaging facilities with a factory scale of over 67 thousand m2; Area 3 (former Dak Nong province) has 114 codes for durian growing areas with a scale of over 3,700 hectares and 4 packaging facilities with a factory scale of over 5,000 m2 .
The work of monitoring the codes of growing areas and packaging facilities for durian for export in the province is of interest and is seriously implemented by the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, affirmed.
Specifically, since the beginning of the year, the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection under the Department of Agriculture and Environment has collected 234 durian samples to analyze the residue of pesticides, heavy metals Cd, Pb and identify harmful organisms (mealybugs). The results have detected 4/78 samples contaminated with lead, however, no sample exceeded the limit; 6/78 growing areas were contaminated with Cadmium, of which 1 sample was contaminated beyond the limit (0.074/0.05 mg/kg). The Department has issued a document directing the owner of the growing area to investigate the cause of the contaminated garden; take remedial measures and report to the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection. The results of the pest identification have detected 6/78 samples contaminated with harmful organisms.

Immediately after the analysis results, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection notified the growing areas contaminated with heavy metals and harmful organisms in writing; at the same time, it requested to seriously implement measures to ensure compliance with the regulations of the importing country and Vietnam, continue to propagate and widely disseminate so that the associated households in the growing areas understand and comply; strengthen strict control of fertilizers and pesticides used in the growing areas must be in the list of pesticides permitted for use in Vietnam; use according to the 4 correct principles and ensure the isolation period when harvesting products. Do not use fertilizer products containing Cadmium and Lead.

Currently, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection is taking soil and water samples for analysis and evaluating the cultivation status to determine the main causes of the growing areas with samples detecting Cd and Pb and instructing the growing areas on remedial measures.
