Lam Dong urgently deploys central parking lots

On August 7, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee held a working session with departments, branches and local authorities on the plan to build a system of bus stations and parking lots, and at the same time research investment in smart parking lots in the central area.

Currently, the land fund for parking lots in the administrative center of Lam Dong province is only over 9 hectares, while the number of vehicles, especially private cars, is constantly increasing, causing great pressure on traffic infrastructure - especially in the central area during the peak tourist season.

Previously, in 2023, the Provincial People's Committee approved detailed planning for two large parking lot projects to reduce the load on Da Lat's inner city. However, to date, both projects have not been implemented.

Specifically: The parking lot at the beginning of Prenn Pass (Hiep Thanh commune) has an area of ​​38.2 hectares, with a capacity of about 790 buses, 122 small buses, 200 taxis,... connecting to National Highway 20; The parking lot combined with the bus station at the Darahoa intersection (Lac Duong commune) has an area of ​​36.69 hectares, serving 817 buses, 83 small buses, connecting to National Highway 27C. The total capacity of the two parking lots is about 2,000 vehicles.

The area planned to be a parking lot combined with a bus station at the Darahoa intersection will connect with National Highway 27C.

At the meeting, the province also reviewed land funds in the wards of Xuan Huong - Da Lat, Cam Ly - Da Lat, Lam Vien - Da Lat, Lang Biang - Da Lat, Xuan Truong - Da Lat to orient the development of smart parking lots to meet the increasing parking demand.

Currently, the entire central area has only 3 bus stations, 23 public parking lots and about 40 internal parking lots, with a total area of ​​over 9.28 hectares. Of which, the Da Lat Interprovincial Bus Station invested by Phuong Trang Da Lat Company Limited is the largest, with an area of ​​14,500 square meters, with 63 fixed inter- and intra-provincial routes, an average of 355 departures per day, and is showing signs of overload, especially during the peak tourist season.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai requested relevant units to urgently complete procedures and speed up the implementation of two projects: the parking lot at the beginning of Prenn Pass (Hiep Thanh Commune) and the bus station combined with the parking lot of Darahoa (Lac Duong Commune), in order to reduce traffic congestion and overload in the central area.
