Heavy rain lasting two days has flooded many roads, crops, and houses in the coastal areas of Lam Dong province.
On September 7, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province informed that the communes and wards of Ham Thang, Ham Thuan, Ham Liem, and Ham Thuan Bac were still deeply flooded on September 6, causing billions of dong in damage.
Accordingly, heavy rains lasting two days in Ham Thuan commune caused low-lying areas near rivers and streams to be flooded. By the evening of September 6, many roads in the area were still flooded. The residential road at Km 212 of Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet highway was heavily flooded, causing damage to crops and surrounding houses. The Song Thang bridge area was deeply flooded, making it impossible for people to move across.
Similarly, Ham Thang ward, Ham Liem commune, Ham Thuan Bac commune were also flooded; many farmers had to hurry to harvest agricultural products to reduce damage.
According to the People's Committee of Ham Thuan commune, four villages in the commune were flooded with an area of about 530 hectares. Specifically, in village 1, more than 100 hectares of rice were flooded; village 2, 250 hectares of rice; Doc Lang village, 150 hectares of rice; Ku Ke village, 20 hectares of rice, 15 hectares of crops, 96 bags of rice of households were swept away; five houses were flooded, damaging 4 refrigerators and 12 motorbikes.
According to preliminary statistics, the total flooded area in Ham Liem commune is 192 hectares; of which, the rice area is 137 hectares, vegetables is 3.7 hectares; dragon fruit is 50 hectares. Ham Thuan Bac commune is flooded in two villages: Phu Dien village is flooded with 155 hectares of rice, Lam Thuan village is flooded with 48 hectares of rice.
Immediately afterwards, the People's Committees of communes and wards directed the Commune Civil Defense Command, relevant departments, offices and units to proactively implement "4 on-site" measures, quickly overcome the consequences of natural disasters in the area, put up warning signs, stretch ropes, and barricades in dangerous areas; absolutely do not be negligent or subjective, closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts of natural disasters and weather to regularly notify and promptly guide people to proactively prevent and minimize damage caused by bad weather phenomena.
At the same time, communes mobilized people and local forces to clear bushes and clear waterways to minimize local flooding.
