For the first time, Bac Ninh province is organizing the Then singing and Tinh lute playing festival.

(CLO) The Then singing and Tinh lute playing festival in Bac Ninh province encourages creativity in the content and form of performance or reenactment of traditional Then rituals.

According to Plan No. 119/KH-UBND, signed by Mr. Mai Son, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, the Bac Ninh Provincial Then Singing and Dan Tinh Playing Festival will be organized on a provincial scale, bringing together 29 communes and wards in ethnic minority and mountainous areas of the province.

The festival is scheduled to take place over two days in mid-November 2025 at the Bac Ninh Provincial Cultural and Exhibition Center.

The plan states that each locality will form a delegation of 20-30 artisans, actors, and musicians from the Tay and Nung ethnic groups who are living, working, or studying in the locality.

Each group will create an artistic program with a maximum duration of 30 minutes, including the following genres: Then singing (traditional Then, adapted Then), solo singing, duet singing, group singing, instrumental solos, instrumental ensembles, and dance. The organizers encourage creativity in content and form, recreating Then rituals in traditional cultural activities.

With the theme "Preserving and promoting the Then singing and Tinh lute playing art of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups in Bac Ninh province in the current period," the festival includes many rich activities such as: Exhibition space showcasing traditional cultural products; performances and presentations of Then singing and Tinh lute playing praising the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, the homeland, the country, and the people of Bac Ninh; reflecting the life, labor, production, and cultural activities of the Tay and Nung people.

The Organizing Committee will award First, Second, and Third place overall team prizes, A, B, and C prizes for individual performances, and special prizes for the oldest and youngest participating artists in the Festival.
