At the end of the trading session, the price of Robusta coffee on the London floor on September 15, 2024 at 5:30 a.m. increased by 4,658 - 5,267 tons. Specifically, the delivery period for November 2024 is 5,267 USD/ton, an increase of 190 USD/ton); the delivery period for January 2025 is 4,998 USD/ton (an increase of 182 USD/ton); the delivery period for March 2025 is 4,790 USD/ton (an increase of 180 USD/ton) and the delivery period for May 2025 is 4,658 USD/ton (an increase of 173 USD/ton).

Arabica coffee prices on the New York floor on the morning of September 15, 2024 were dominated by green, with an increase of 9.20 - 10.05 cents/lb. Specifically, the December 2024 delivery period was 259.45 cents/lb, up 4.03%; the March 2025 delivery period was 256.60 cents/lb (up 3.89%); the May 2025 delivery period was 253.95 cents/lb (up 3.82%) and the July 2025 delivery period was 250.95, up 3.81%.

The price of Brazilian Arabica coffee on the morning of September 15, 2024 increased and decreased in opposite directions. Specifically, the delivery period for September 2024 was 316.95 USD/ton, up 4.38%; the delivery period for December 2024 was 305.40 USD/ton (down 0.59%); the delivery period for March 2025 was 310.80 USD/ton, up 3.08% and the delivery period for May 2025 was 311.70 USD/ton, up 4.13%.

Robusta coffee traded on the ICE Futures Europe (London exchange) opens at 16:00 and closes at 00:30 (next day), Vietnam time.

Arabica coffee on the ICE Futures US (New York floor) opens at 16:15 and closes at 01:30 (next day), Vietnam time.

For Arabica coffee traded on the B3 Brazil exchange, it will be open from 19:00 - 02:35 (next day), Vietnam time.

Domestic coffee prices were updated at 4:30 a.m. on September 15, 2024 as follows: Today's domestic coffee market increased by 2,000 VND/kg, ranging from 123,500 - 124,000. Currently, the average purchase price in the Central Highlands provinces is 123,600 VND/kg, the highest purchase price in Dak Nong and Dak Lak provinces is 124,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, the coffee purchase price in Gia Lai province (Chu Prong) is 123,900 VND, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, in Pleiku and La Grai the price is 123,800 VND/kg. In Kon Tum province, the price is 123,900 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday; In Dak Nong province, coffee is purchased at 124,000 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

The price of green coffee beans (coffee beans, fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha, coffee is purchased at 123,500 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Coffee prices today (September 15) in Dak Lak province; in Cu M'gar district, coffee is purchased at about 124,000 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg, and in Ea H'leo district, Buon Ho town, it is purchased at 123,900 VND/kg.

According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in August 2024, Robusta and Arabica coffee prices on trading floors increased sharply, continuously recording record highs in many years due to unfavorable weather in Brazil and Vietnam, affecting global supply.

Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai - Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa) - informed that since Vietnam started exporting coffee, this is the first time in history that the price of this type of bean has exceeded the 5,000 USD/ton mark. However, Vietnam's coffee inventory for export in September is not much, the supply has run out.

The coffee harvest will begin next October, peaking in November and December. However, our country's coffee output in the 2024-2025 crop year is estimated to decrease by about 10% compared to the previous crop (the output in the 2023-2024 crop year is estimated at about 1.5 million tons).

Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai commented that although coffee production will be abundant during the harvest season, coffee prices can still remain stable at a high level, which is beneficial for farmers. In the coming time, it will be difficult for this type of bean to decrease sharply due to the impact of climate change, the El Nino phenomenon causing drought throughout the coffee growing regions of the world leading to a decrease in supply. Geopolitical conflicts in the world, tensions in the Red Sea have caused shipping costs and many other costs to increase. Along with that, many financial speculators in the world choose coffee (after oil and gold) to speculate. These are major factors that push global coffee prices up and stay high, including coffee prices in Vietnam.

Coffee prices are forecast to remain high next month due to reduced supply and increased demand. Vietnam’s 2024/25 coffee output is expected to fall sharply to a 13-year low. Meanwhile, the mainstream coffee consumer market in the Northern Hemisphere is gradually returning from summer vacation, which will help boost some physical coffee trading in the coming months ahead of the winter roasting season in Europe and the United States.
