First driving test held in Con Dao Special Zone

On August 25, the Traffic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police Department announced that it had organized a driving test for class A1 and A for people in Con Dao Special Zone, Ho Chi Minh City.

This is the first exam held in Con Dao Special Zone, creating favorable conditions for people on remote islands to take the exam right in their locality, instead of having to travel to the mainland, which is time-consuming and costly as before.

To ensure the good organization of the examination for more than 700 people in Con Dao Special Zone, the Traffic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police has fully prepared machinery, equipment and examination grounds. The examinations are organized scientifically , transparently, applying modern technology in management, contributing to improving the quality of training and examination.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, said: "For Con Dao Special Zone, the issuance of driving licenses has been implemented since March 1, 2025, in accordance with the direction of the Traffic Police Department. Regarding the testing work, we have coordinated with the testing center to organize the first exam on August 25. The Traffic Police Department has mobilized officers and soldiers to support and create conditions for people to complete the test on the same day. Immediately after the candidate meets the requirements, the profile will be updated and a driving license will be issued on the VNeID system, helping people to use it even if they have not received the hard copy yet."

Con Dao Special Zone (formerly belonging to Ba Ria-Vung Tau province) officially became the only special zone directly under Ho Chi Minh City from July 1, 2025. Con Dao is located more than 230 km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City center, including 16 large and small islands.

It is expected that by 2025, the population in the special zone will reach more than 10,000 people. Therefore, the organization of testing and granting and exchanging driving licenses for people here is always of special concern to the leaders of the Traffic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police.

According to the leader of the Traffic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, from March 1, 2025 to now, with great determination and effort, the City Police have organized 404 driving tests for more than 200,000 candidates, of which 118,000 candidates met the requirements.

Up to now, the activities of testing, granting and exchanging driving licenses in the City have been basically resolved satisfactorily; the backlog of documents has almost disappeared, contributing to improving the effectiveness of state management of traffic, while meeting the needs of people to travel and practice legally./.
