Border Guard and Nghe An Police overcome floods, evacuate people, and put up landslide warning signs.

On the night of August 24 and 25, police, border guards, and officials from communes and villages in the mountainous and border areas of Nghe An helped thousands of people evacuate to avoid the storm and put up warning signs of flooded and landslide areas.

​Information from highland localities, on August 25, many places had heavy rain all day without stopping, causing risks of flooding and landslides, such as the communes of Nhon Mai, Tri Le, Thong Thu, Tam Quang...

On August 25, Nhon Mai Border Guard Station coordinated with the Party Committee, government, military forces, and the Commune Police to evacuate households at risk of being affected by floods to safe places. At the same time, the unit also provided food, drinking water, gas stoves, and other essential necessities to help people stabilize their lives during the storm.

As of 4:00 p.m. on August 25, in Nhon Mai commune, the total number of households that had been evacuated to safe locations was 221 households, with 1,179 people. Households were evacuated to communal houses, schools, medical stations and households in safe locations.

In My Ly commune, My Ly Border Guard Station distributed life jackets to boat owners operating on the Nam Non River, increased propaganda, and instructed vehicle owners and people to be vigilant and strictly follow safety measures when traveling on the river.

In addition to supporting local authorities in evacuating people, on August 25, border guards also worked with local forces to survey and place flood and landslide warning signs so that people could travel safely and avoid dangerous areas.

Specifically, from August 24-25, Tri Le commune experienced continuous heavy rain, causing rivers and streams to rise. To ensure safety, Tri Le Border Guard Station mobilized officers and soldiers to coordinate with local authorities to set up flood warning signs in Kem Don and Tan Thai villages. At the same time, the unit increased propaganda, guidance and helped people move their assets to safe places, minimizing the risk of damage caused by flash floods and landslides.

In Tan Quang commune, Tam Quang Border Guard Station coordinated with Tam Quang commune Party Committee and authorities to survey and inspect areas at high risk of landslides, propagate, mobilize and support the evacuation of people to safe locations.

Previously, on the night of August 24, in conditions of heavy rain and strong winds, Muong Ai Border Guard Station continued to coordinate with Muong Tip commune authorities to mobilize and organize the urgent evacuation of 24 households in Na My village to safe shelters that very night.

In response to the urgent developments of storm No. 5, on the evening of August 24, Quy Chau Commune Police crossed the forest and waded through streams for more than 4 hours to reach and help a group of 17 people from 9 households who were trapped in the deep forest in Khe Tep area, bordering Nhu Xuan Commune ( Thanh Hoa ), to harvest bamboo shoots 4 days ago, return home safely.
