Spread action for a green environment

In the 2020-2025 term, Quang Ninh has identified environmental protection as one of the key tasks, closely integrated into the province's socio-economic development goals. Along with the province's strong direction, the core role of the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations has been clearly promoted through many practical movements, spreading the spirit of action for a green, clean and beautiful environment to each community.

Previously, Phu Thanh Tay Street in Yen Thanh Ward (now Uong Bi Ward) had a rather narrow sidewalk and a high volume of traffic, causing the road surface to deteriorate severely. Faced with this situation, Uong Bi City (old) had a policy to renovate and upgrade this road section under the motto "The State and the people work together". To gain consensus from the households where the road passes, the Fatherland Front together with the Party Committee and the ward government organized delegations to visit each household to propagate and analyze the benefits of road expansion as well as the rights of households when donating land.

Through effective propaganda and mobilization, the ward's Fatherland Front officials successfully mobilized 30 households along the road to donate over 500 square ^meters. land, dismantled many fences, water tanks, corrugated iron roofs, and slate roofs to make roads. With the budget of Uong Bi City and the contributions and land donations of the people, in April 2024, Phu Thanh Tay road, nearly 400m long, more than 10m wide, with an investment cost of nearly 13.6 billion VND, was completed and put into use to the joy of the people.

The completed route not only helps people travel conveniently, ensuring traffic safety, but also creates a spacious and clean urban appearance. The upgraded road surface is spacious, the sidewalk system is airy, contributing to significantly improving the living environment. The consensus on donating land and dismantling constructions to build the road has aroused the sense of responsibility of the people in preserving the living environment, contributing to building a civilized and modern neighborhood.

Over the past 5 years, the Fatherland Front at all levels has effectively implemented the movements: "All people participate in environmental protection, responding to climate change", "Green Sunday"; replicated environmental protection models in the community, receiving the participation and response of a large number of people. People have actively and proactively participated in donating thousands of ^square meters   land, expanding rural roads, maintaining environmental hygiene, planting trees, building flower roads, model roads meeting the criteria of "bright - green - clean - beautiful"...

Typically, in 2023, the Fatherland Front of Ha Long City mobilized social resources to invest in new and repair 27 welcome gates in villages and areas in the area associated with urban renovation and beautification, with a total cost of over 650 million VND; mobilized nearly 1,000 households to donate over ^8,000m2   land, worth over 60 billion VND. The Fatherland Front of Tien Yen district coordinated with prestigious and typical ethnic minority people to propagate and mobilize people to donate over ^25,000m2   land, contributed 5,000 working days to build public works...

With the motto "Each woman is a nucleus of environmental protection", the women's unions at all levels in the province have been creative in implementing models such as: "Self-managed women's road", "Green house", "Women limit the use of plastic bags", "Turning garbage into money". From small, familiar tasks such as sorting waste at the source, collecting scrap to raise funds to help members in difficulty... women have contributed to building a civilized lifestyle, preserving a clean, beautiful and sustainable landscape for the community. At the same time, through the propaganda work of the women's unions at all levels, local people have effectively carried out environmental protection work, not littering indiscriminately in their homes, focusing on waste sorting activities at households, ensuring hygienic living conditions, and building barns far from the family's residence.

Ms. Giap Thi Nghia (Na Lang village, Binh Lieu commune) shared: To contribute to reducing the amount of waste discharged into the living environment, I was guided by the Women's Union to implement an organic composting model right at home. I collect organic waste such as leaves, leftover food, spoiled fruit, etc. and mix it with biological products. After only about 20 days, it becomes organic fertilizer, which is very good and safe for plants.

The Youth Union forces in the whole province promote the pioneering and creative role of the youth in environmental protection. All levels of the Union regularly maintain movements such as: "Volunteer Saturday", "Green Sunday", "Let's clean the sea", "Tree planting festival to forever remember Uncle Ho"..., attracting tens of thousands of active Youth Union members to participate.

In the first 6 months of 2025, Youth Union chapters at all levels in the province organized 150 activities to participate in environmental protection and climate change response with over 10,000 Youth Union members participating; planted 38,074 large trees, shade trees, landscape trees... Youth in the whole province also maintained many creative models responding to the "Anti-plastic waste" movement, such as: "Exchanging batteries for trees", "Exchanging trash for trees", "Classified trash cans", "Second journey of tires" (recycling tires into playgrounds for children), which are both environmentally friendly and highly educational .

In particular, promoting the spirit of creative entrepreneurship, the youth of the whole province have implemented over 30 ideas and startup projects in the field of green living. Typical is the project "Smokeless votive paper furnace" by member Nguyen Van Ngoc Duc (Bach Dang High School), won second prize at the "Rural Youth Startup Project" Contest in 2024,   organized by the Central Youth Union.

The joint efforts of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio- political organizations, from women, youth to farmers, veterans... have been creating a combined strength, strongly spreading the spirit of green living in the community. Creative models and approaches not only contribute to improving the landscape and protecting the living environment, but also arouse the awareness and responsibility of each citizen in behaving in an environmentally friendly manner, building a civilized and modern community. This is an important foundation for the province to realize the goal of sustainable development, linking economic growth with environmental protection in the new term.
