Green tree system along the road

Located on the front of lane 12, An Luu residential group, Huong An ward is a spacious house located in the middle of a garden plot of more than 1,800m2 of Mr. Ha Van Quang's family. When we arrived at the house, Mr. Quang and his wife were busy tending to the green onion garden in front of the house.

Mr. Quang said that in 2024, when the ward began implementing the program to expand and upgrade alleys under the motto "State and People work together", his family volunteered to donate land.

“On the left side of the alley are houses, on the right side are fields where people grow vegetables, onions and peanuts. When the local government had a policy to widen this alley from 3m to 5m, my family measured and donated more than 50m2 of residential land and garden land. Many households in the alley also volunteered to donate land, so now this road is wide and straight. We hope that the road surface will soon be concreted to serve traffic and welcome tourists to visit the clean vegetable gardens here,” Mr. Quang shared.

At Alley 11, An Luu Residential Area, Huong An Ward, to widen the traffic route, many households along both sides of this alley have volunteered to demolish walls, fences, gate posts, and porches to donate land. Among them, Mr. Ho Van Hang, an officer of the An Luu Residential Area Front, demolished the gate, fence, and donated more than 20 square meters of land; Mr. Ho Van Loi demolished fences, gate posts, etc. to open the traffic route.

From small, narrow alleys, many roads in Huong An ward have been widened and paved with clean, beautiful concrete, contributing to changing the urban appearance of the locality. Many roads after being widened have signs with the content "Building a bright, clean, beautiful, and safe typical alley".

Mr. Tran Thin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell of An Luu Residential Area, said: In order for people to agree and actively respond to the movement of donating land to open roads, previously, authorities at all levels, departments, and organizations at the grassroots level had organized many propaganda and mobilization campaigns and clearly stated the purpose and benefits of opening roads to the people.

In An Luu residential area alone, 18 households in alleys 11 and 12 volunteered to donate land to open roads; of which, the smallest household donated 20 square meters, the largest more than 100 square meters. “Although at the time of land donation, land prices on local alleys and lanes were quite high, for the purpose of building clean and beautiful alleys and lanes to serve the travel needs of people and children, all households agreed to donate land,” said Mr. Thin.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong An Ward informed: From 2024 to now, in the ward, many households have voluntarily registered to donate residential land, garden land... to serve the construction of roads and public works. Particularly, people in An Luu Residential Area have donated land with a total area of over 3,500m2 and assets on the land worth about more than 1 billion VND.

“Thanks to the strong spread of the local land donation movement, many alleys and lanes in the ward have been widened and improved. Along both sides of the roads, people plant flowers, plant flags, creating a clean and beautiful landscape. The urban appearance of Huong An is improving day by day,” Ms. Xuyen affirmed.

In addition to the land donation movement, in 2024, thanks to the efforts, solidarity, and emulation in labor and production, the socio- economic situation in Huong An has achieved many positive results. The People's Committee of Huong An Ward is implementing clean agriculture projects, completing the project of a specialized area for safe green onion production on an area of 7 hectares with a total cost of more than 1 billion VND.
