Lam Dong province's Cu Lan Village became a tourist area in 2011, with jeep tours exploring the green forest once being a "highlight service".

On October 25th, the Cu Lan Village tourist area temporarily suspended all business and service activities after a tourist bus was swept away by floods, resulting in the deaths of four South Koreans. This was once a popular tourist destination near Da Lat.

Cù Lần Village is a small village, approximately 30 hectares in size, nestled in the primeval forest at the foot of Lang Biang Mountain, in Suối Cạn Hamlet, Lát Commune, Lạc Dương District, Lâm Đồng Province, about 20 km from Da Lat City. From the center of Da Lat, visitors can follow the road towards the Lang Biang plateau to reach Cù Lần Village.

Located at the foot of Lang Biang mountain, Cu Lan Village began welcoming visitors in 2011 and was once honored by UNESCO as a "must-visit cultural tourism destination, contributing to changing the face of tourism in Lam Dong province," according to the Lac Duong District Electronic Information Portal, Lam Dong. Before temporarily ceasing operations, Cu Lan Village tourist area offered services such as sightseeing, camping, and outdoor recreational activities.

On the official website of the Cu Lan Village tourist area, the jeep tour is listed as a "featured service." This tour costs 150,000 VND per person, with each vehicle carrying a minimum of four people. Tourists who purchase the tour will be transported in UAZ vehicles over a distance of more than 8 km, crossing forests, streams, and challenging terrain. The vehicles depart in quick succession, every few minutes. On the afternoon of October 24th, four South Korean tourists died while participating in the Cu Lan Village jeep tour. Information about this tour has now been removed from the tourist area's website.

Camping in the forest

Camping and team-building activities are also among the "highlighted services" here. This resort offers two types of tents: one for a group of 5 people at 3 million VND per night and another for 8 people at 4 million VND per night. The tents are fully equipped with amenities such as Wi-Fi, TV, and an iron.

According to the resort's description, the campsites are set up on a 12,000 m2 lawn surrounded by pine forests and Heart Lake. Overnight campers receive free access to other services such as breakfast, jeep tours, free village entrance tickets, and traditional games.

The games

Besides overnight camping, the tourist area also sells day tickets at an entrance fee of 100,000 VND per person. Visitors can experience various games within the village grounds, with the game area open from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM daily. Paid games include horseback riding at 100,000 VND per lap per person, and archery at 50,000 VND for 10 arrows per person. There was also rafting, an activity that has now been removed from the tourist area's website.

Sightseeing

The tourist area features scenic spots, photo opportunities, and places to learn about the culture of the K'Ho ethnic minority, such as the Upper Village Gate area, the communal house, the longhouse, the warrior's path, the artifact exhibition house, the house of Cu Lan, the Heart-shaped Lake, and the Chom Hom market selling specialties of the Central Highlands. These locations introduce visitors to the story of Cu Lan Village.

The village, which has existed since the 1960s, is home to the K'Ho ethnic minority. The name "Cù Lần" is derived from a type of tree that grows interspersed in the pine forest. This is also the name of the slow loris.
