On August 18, the People's Committee of Dam Ha commune, Quang Ninh province informed that the incident occurred at around 6:15 p.m. on August 17 at sea in the Ba Hon area, killing 2 people.
Specifically, at around 8:00 p.m. on August 17, the People's Committee of Dam Ha commune received a report from the Dam Ha commune police about a raft capsize accident at sea.
The raft owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Minh (born in 1980, residing in Quang Minh 3 village, Dam Ha commune) carried 17 people, departing from Ghenh Vo wharf (Quang Ha commune), to go to the sea area of Binh Hai village (Dam Ha commune) to do clam farming. While moving, a storm caused the raft to capsize.
Upon receiving the information, the People's Committee of Dam Ha commune quickly coordinated with the People's Committee of Quang Ha commune, mobilizing military forces and commune police to organize rescue work and search for the missing people.
However, due to prolonged heavy rain and the lowest sea level of the day, only one ship of Quang Duc Border Guard Station departed from Ghenh Vo port to join the search with the people.
At 7:00 a.m. on August 18, authorities found two bodies: Ms. Nong Thi H. (born in 1984, residing in Quang Chinh 7 village, Quang Ha commune) and Mr. Tran Van T. (born in 1982, residing in Quang Minh 2 village, Quang Ha commune) in the oyster farming area of the people.
The bodies of the two victims were taken to Hai Ha Medical Center to complete the necessary procedures. The remaining 15 people were brought safely to shore.
Currently, Dam Ha Commune People's Committee is coordinating with Quang Ha Commune People's Committee and relevant agencies to verify and clarify the cause of the incident.
