The Malaysian Football Federation speaks frankly about the possibility of their team being penalized for losing to the Vietnamese team.

The story of the naturalization of the Malaysian team suddenly became "hot" recently when the Indonesian press reported that the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) had illegally naturalized players and faced the risk of being punished by FIFA for losing the match against the Vietnamese team.

Recently, FAM President Datuk Mohd Joehari Ayub spoke up to affirm transparency: “We are not joking around with this issue. FIFA has looked into everything. We always follow the procedures and guidelines they have set.

Everything has been confirmed by FIFA. So we need to follow the correct procedures. If FAM has any problems or incidents, FIFA will not approve. But in this case, everything is approved. All procedures are completed through the correct channels.”

Today, it was FAM Secretary General Datuk Noor Azman Rahman's turn to deny all allegations made by the Indonesian newspaper. He affirmed that all player registration procedures were carried out by FAM in accordance with current regulations.

Speaking to Bernama, Datuk Noor Azman Rahman said: “As of today, we have not received any letter from FIFA or AFC. We are still following the rules of these two organizations. FAM denies all the slander directed at us in the past time.”

Bernama also confirmed that five newly naturalized Malaysian players, Facundo Garces, Imanol Machuca, Jon Irazabal, Joao Figueiredo and Rodrigo Holgado, all received FIFA approval.

The Malaysian newspaper confirmed that they have contacted AFC Secretary General, Datuk Noor Azman Rahman, but have not received a response regarding this issue.

Malaysia are still leading Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers with six points. They are looking to win against Laos and Nepal in the next three matches, before facing Vietnam again in March next year.
