VNA described that Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife were waiting for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife. When the motorcade carrying the Vietnamese leader entered Putra Square, the Malaysian Prime Minister and his wife shook hands in greeting, then together moved up to the podium of honor.

The Malaysian Prime Minister then invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to review the guard of honour. The two Prime Ministers returned to the podium and the national anthems of the two countries were played for the second time.

To the sound of military music, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife introduced to each other the delegations of the two sides and the ambassadors and representatives of the ASEAN diplomatic corps in Malaysia attending the welcoming ceremony.

This is the first visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to Malaysia in 10 years. This is also the highest-level official visit between the two countries since upgrading relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in November 2024.

At the end of the welcoming ceremony, the Malaysian Prime Minister and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led the delegations of the two countries into the Prime Minister's Office to hold talks.

According to the Government Electronic Information Portal, at the talks, the two Prime Ministers will discuss and agree on cooperation directions in the coming time.

The two sides also spent time discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern, thereby contributing to further promoting relations both within the bilateral framework as well as at regional and international forums.

Prime Minister calls on businesses to connect the two countries

Earlier, on the same day, May 25, within the framework of the visit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia.

He said he is proposing that the National Assembly amend the Nationality Law with a more open spirit, creating the most favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese and all patriots to contribute to building the country and sharing pride in the country.

Next, the head of the Vietnamese Government received a number of large Malaysian enterprises and attended the program "Meeting with Vietnamese - Malaysian enterprises".

At meetings and events, he affirmed Vietnam's strategic development policies and strategies in the coming time.

The Prime Minister hopes that Malaysian businesses will continue to expand their investment, trust and stick with Vietnam in the development process, as well as continuously contribute to the prosperous development of the two countries.

He suggested that businesses promote connectivity within ASEAN, including connectivity between Vietnam and Malaysia, promote green economic development, circular economy, energy conversion, digital connectivity, data sharing, creative economy, etc.

In addition, we will continue to renew traditional growth drivers such as investment, export, and consumption. According to the Prime Minister, these are all missions of enterprises to diversify markets, products, and supply chains, in a complementary and mutually supportive manner.
