As one of the unique and particularly important cultural and religious activities of the White Thai people, the Rain Prayer Festival takes place on the full moon of the second lunar month every year. This marks the beginning of the new planting season, a time to pray for a bountiful harvest for the villagers, and at the same time, to educate the younger generation about their origins and the harmonious relationship between humans and nature.

The offering tray includes typical local products such as bamboo-cooked rice, catfish, boiled chicken, sticky rice, chicken eggs, bitter bamboo shoots... and decorations made of birds and cicadas woven from bamboo strips… The villagers believe this is a way to express their sincere reverence to heaven, earth, and the spirits.

The rain-praying ritual is led by the shaman, and everyone gathers to pray. The shaman recites a prayer, telling the Then (the celestial being) about the villagers' suffering due to the lack of rain, and imploring the heavens to send rain to nourish the fields and crops. At the end of the prayer, the Then declares that water is bestowed upon the villagers, so that they may have a year of favorable weather and a bountiful harvest.

The shaman is in charge of the ritual.

Immediately after the rain-praying ceremony concluded, to celebrate the fact that Mr. Then had granted the rain, all the Thai people and tourists began to play games and compete in folk games, harmonizing with the lively sounds of drums and gongs in a circle dance of unity.

Mr. Then performed the ritual of bestowing water upon the villagers.
