Since the end of May, the talent classes at the Provincial Youth Activities Center have been bustling with activity, attracting children of all ages. These days, the Center's core talent class is focusing on training for the first National Children's Festival – 2026, which will take place from June 18th to 20th in Lam Dong province. At the Festival, the talent club plans to present artistic performances showcasing the rich cultural identity of Son La's ethnic groups, meticulously staged, with a performance style and music blending traditional and modern elements. Children of different ages will participate in various other activities within the framework of the event.
Quàng Bảo Trâm, a 13-year-old from Chiềng Cơi ward and a core member of the gifted children's class, excitedly shared: "I've been participating in activities at the center for over 3 years now. Every summer, I practice with my friends for summer camp activities and art festivals. Participating in summer activities helps me feel more confident and learn many useful things."

In preparation for this year's summer talent classes, the Provincial Youth Activities Center has planned and organized the classes to attract participants. Ms. Pham Ha Dan Huyen, Director of the Center, said: "On June 1st, the Center will hold the opening ceremony for the summer talent classes. This year, the center plans to enroll over 500 students in 13 summer activity classes covering three areas: talent, culture, and skills. Simultaneously, we will organize exchange activities, summer camps, festivals, etc., to help young people develop, express their talents and interests, and learn many necessary skills and knowledge appropriate to their age."

Besides the talent classes at the Provincial Youth Activities Center, children also have many choices with sports and talent clubs that have been operating for many years, such as: martial arts, basketball, football, swimming, modern dance... At the Read&Go Basketball Club, more than 100 students aged 6-17 have been regularly attending classes for many years on training courts in To Hieu ward. During the summer, training sessions are usually more crowded than during the school year.
According to Mr. Vu Trung Hieu, the club's chairman: During the summer, the club intensifies its physical training and technical skills development activities. In particular, it organizes internal exchanges and competitions, and selects outstanding students to participate in the Son La Open Club Tournament, the Northern Region Tournament, and the national tournament, providing opportunities for the students to gain experience and hone their skills.

With two children attending primary and secondary school, Ms. Pham Thi Thuy from Chieng Coi ward shared this summer: "Every summer, my family usually enrolls our children in extracurricular classes based on their interests, such as drawing, chess, and martial arts, instead of regular tutoring classes. This is a method I find effective in helping my children limit their TV viewing and use of electronic devices, and learn essential skills."

In many other localities, although summer activities are not as diverse and abundant as in urban areas, for many years, the Youth Unions of communes and wards have actively coordinated and organized many beneficial activities during the summer, such as: opening free English and swimming classes; maintaining martial arts clubs; organizing summer activities in hamlets and villages... Youth Union and team organizations in communes and wards coordinate with schools and educational institutions to hand over, receive, and manage students to participate in activities at home and in residential areas; organize volunteer activities to attract young people to participate, creating a healthy environment for students during the summer.

To ensure children have a safe and enriching summer, it is necessary to have the support of local Party committees and authorities, especially mass organizations, to coordinate with families to promote summer activities and movements so that children have safe spaces to play, develop life skills, and acquire the necessary knowledge for their comprehensive development later on.
