The festival is solemnly held with traditional rituals. After the ceremony of welcoming the Nam Hai god, the main worshiping and commemorating activities of the ancestors take place. In particular, this year the festival marks an important milestone with the inauguration of the Nam Hai god's mausoleum, which is a place to worship the god who protects the sea of fishermen. Within the framework of the festival, there are also exciting activities such as: Volleyball competition, folk games, opera performances, music and dance programs...
The festival is an occasion for coastal fishermen to express their gratitude to the god Nam Hai Nhan Ngu (Whale God), who has protected them from going to sea safely, and to pray for “favorable weather and wind” so that fishermen can go out to sea, stay at sea, and have full holds of fish. At the same time, it contributes to connecting the community, preserving traditional cultural heritage, and promoting local tourism development.
The festival runs until May 16.
