The 2025 Do Son traditional buffalo fighting festival will be broadcast live on VTVgo

The 2025 Do Son traditional buffalo fighting festival consists of two parts: the ceremony and the festival; in which, the ceremony is held from September 22 to October 7 (ie from August 1 to 16 of the lunar calendar); the festival takes place from 7:30 a.m., September 30 (August 9 of the lunar calendar) at the Do Son Ward Central Stadium (Hai Phong).

According to Vice Chairman of Do Son Ward People's Committee, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee Pham Hoang Tuan, this is the first year the festival is hosted by Do Son Ward; the estimated cost of organizing the festival is about 3 billion VND. Hai Phong City supports the locality with 1.3 billion VND, the rest is mobilized from social resources, and at the same time, there is the accompaniment of Vietnam Television (VTV).

This year's Festival Organizing Committee does not sell tickets, instead issuing invitations; the prizes have also increased compared to the previous festival, with the first prize being 100 million VND, the second prize being 70 million VND (an increase of 30 million VND each), and the third prize being 30 million VND (an increase of 10 million VND each). In addition, there are a number of other secondary prizes.

This year's festival will be broadcast live on VTVgo, channels, digital platforms of Hai Phong Newspaper and Radio and Television; the Festival Organizing Committee will also install large LED screens at convenient locations outside the central stadium of Do Son ward so that people and tourists can easily watch the exciting festival (buffalo fighting).

Do Son buffalo fighting festival originates from the worship of Diem Tuoc Dai Vuong, the god of Do Son mountains and rivers; passed down and is closely associated with the length of history and the development of the land and people of Do Son.

In 2012, the Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival was listed in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; not only is it a precious cultural heritage but also a unique and attractive tourism product of the country in general and of Do Son, Hai Phong in particular.
