Huong Tra village is on the Tam Ky river, south of the city's suburbs. Hundreds of years ago, people planted sưa trees along the dike to prevent landslides and floods. Unlike sưa trees (huynh dan) in the North, the yellow sưa trees are called garden incense trees by people in the Central region. This species is in the same genus as the large-fruited sưa trees and the bird's-eye sưa trees, not a precious wood like the white sưa trees in the North. Previously, the yellow sưa trees grew naturally, and people planted them in their gardens to use the wood for firewood.
Every year around April, the Sua flowers bloom in clusters and have a light yellow fragrance, taking over the entire space of Huong Tra village. Since 2017, the Tam Ky City government has chosen Huong Tra village to organize the Sua flower festival, attracting thousands of visitors.
