The plowing and sowing activity is the main highlight of the Doi Son Tich Dien Festival 2025.

The Tịch Điền Festival originated during the reign of King Lê Đại Hành (10th century). Legend says that after defeating foreign invaders, King Lê Đại Hành returned to his hometown and decided to personally plow the first furrows in the fields to encourage the people to focus on agricultural production. Since then, the Tịch Điền custom has been maintained through many feudal dynasties, carrying immense significance: promoting agricultural production, strengthening the bond between the king and the people, demonstrating the spirit of "respecting the farmer," and encouraging everyone to work together for the prosperity of the entire community.

After a period of interruption, in 2009, Ha Nam province officially restored the Doi Son Tich Dien Festival and has maintained it continuously to this day. Every year, the festival attracts a large number of locals and tourists from all over to admire and participate.

The buffalo that won first prize in the buffalo decoration contest at the Tich Dien Doi Son Festival attracted the attention of the people.

The highlight of the festival is the reenactment of the traditional "Tich Dien" ceremony. Dressed in the attire of the king and ancient farmers, representatives of the Ha Nam provincial leadership, along with a chosen villager playing the role of the king, lead a buffalo to the field to plow the first furrows. This solemn and symbolic image reminds today's generation of the importance of agricultural production and conveys a message of honoring farmers – those who play a leading role in ensuring food security.

Alongside the main ceremony, the organizers also arranged many cultural and artistic activities rich in traditional identity, such as: Cheo singing, call-and-response singing, folk games (wrestling, tug-of-war, swing riding, cockfighting, rice cooking competition...). These activities not only create a lively and joyful atmosphere at the beginning of the new year, but also contribute to preserving and promoting the distinctive intangible cultural values of the Northern Delta region.
