Within the framework of the Festival, the "Unification of the Country" Flag Raising Ceremony was solemnly held at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Historical Site.
Attending the ceremony were: Mr. Le Quang Tung, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Tri province; Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Tri province; Mr. Vo Van Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province.
At the ceremony, the national flag was raised on top of the historic flagpole in a solemn atmosphere, amidst the majestic sound of Tien Quan Ca music and the emotion of thousands of people present.
Also at the ceremony, delegates and people attending observed a minute of silence to express their gratitude for the great contributions of previous generations of revolutionary predecessors; to commemorate compatriots and comrades who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the people.
Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party Committee, Government and People of Quang Tri province, Mr. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, sent his warm regards and best wishes to the revolutionary veterans, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and labor heroes; relatives of martyrs, families with meritorious services to the country; war invalids, sick soldiers, veterans, former youth volunteers, officers and soldiers of the armed forces, and all compatriots and comrades in the province.
At the same time, review the heroic and tragic memories in the fight for national independence, national reunification, bringing a prosperous and happy life to our people and army.
Mr. Hoang Nam affirmed: “With a strong will, courage and steadfast faith in the Party and the revolution, overcoming all the pain, loss and devastation of the war, the army and people of Quang Tri were resilient, indomitable, and bravely held out to fight the enemy with the determination of “Not an inch gone, not a millimeter left”.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province said that the war has receded into the past, but the memories of those heroic and glorious years still live forever in the hearts of every Vietnamese person.
And, promoting the glorious revolutionary tradition, the Party Committee and People of Quang Tri are increasingly aware of their responsibilities, making every effort to preserve and honor fine traditional values; upholding their determination, overcoming all difficulties and challenges to build and protect their homeland; turning pride in the revolutionary tradition into new strength, focusing on successfully implementing the goals and tasks set forth by the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress, striving to develop Quang Tri province rapidly and sustainably.
The 2024 "National Reunification" Festival organized by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province includes: "National Reunification" Flag Raising Ceremony, "National Reunification" Boat Race and Incense Offering Ceremony to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, Highway 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery and Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Special National Monument.
Previously, to ensure security, order and traffic safety, Quang Tri Provincial Police had a plan to temporarily ban vehicles from traveling on waterways and roads in the area serving the activities of the "National Reunification" Festival.
