Lexus Vietnam announces a recall program for 2,774 vehicles to "update the parking assist control software on Lexus vehicles" in order to ensure operational safety and protect the legitimate rights of customers using the vehicles.
According to the announcement, the recall program will be implemented from December 30, 2025, at all Lexus and Toyota dealerships nationwide. A total of 2,774 Lexus vehicles across various models are affected, including the LM, LS, ES, NX, RX, GX, and LX, manufactured between 2021 and 2025.
The vehicles subject to the recall are equipped with a parking assist control unit, which is part of the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system.
Through testing, Lexus determined that the system's control software could, under certain conditions, cause the rear view image to freeze briefly when reversing, or fail to display when the ignition is turned on the next time it's used.
This phenomenon can increase the risk of collisions with people or obstacles behind the vehicle while reversing.
To resolve this issue, Lexus Vietnam will inspect and update the parking assist control software for affected vehicles. The inspection and update are expected to take approximately 0.8-1 hour per vehicle and will be completely free of charge.
Lexus Vietnam stated that customers whose vehicles are subject to the recall will be proactively contacted by Lexus dealerships, who will invite them to bring their vehicles in for inspection and updates.
At the same time, the company advises customers to promptly bring their vehicles to the nearest Lexus or Toyota dealership for timely assistance. To save waiting time, customers can contact the dealership in advance to schedule an appointment.
To check if your vehicle is affected by the program and to find out more details, customers can visit the official websites of Lexus Vietnam and Toyota Vietnam, look up the VIN number through Toyota's online portal, or contact dealerships nationwide. Alternatively, customers can call the Lexus Vietnam hotline at 1800 588 886 or the Toyota Vietnam hotline at 1800 1524 for assistance.
For unofficial imported Lexus vehicles that are affected, Lexus Vietnam will receive requests from vehicle owners, conduct checks, and verify the information. After approval, Lexus or Toyota dealerships will perform the checks and software updates free of charge according to the manufacturer's standards.
According to automotive experts, this recall by Lexus Vietnam is a timely and necessary measure. Globally , vehicle recalls are used as a criterion for evaluating business development, and consumers are protected from product defects. For recalled products, repairs or replacements are carried out before returning them to customers.
Therefore, when a customer's vehicle is subject to a recall, the customer needs to bring it to an authorized dealership for inspection, repair, or replacement. The owner does not have to pay any fees, as this is the manufacturer's responsibility.
