In its statement, LG denied the EBN article's claim that it was preparing to sell its TV business to China's Hisense. The company stated: "We affirm that the information regarding the sale of our TV business is completely unfounded, speculative, and misleading."

LG's response came after an EBN report indicated the South Korean company was discussing with Hisense the possibility of restructuring or even selling its entire TV division. The report also suggested that competitive pressure from Chinese brands like TCL and Hisense was forcing LG to reconsider its business strategy.
The news quickly attracted attention because LG is one of the world's largest TV brands, particularly renowned for its OLED technology.
LG has confirmed it has no plans to sell its TV business.
Shortly afterward, LG responded quite strongly to the speculation. A company representative emphasized that the company has no plans to leave the TV market and that the circulating information does not reflect the truth. Notably, the original article that sparked the rumors has also been removed from the source's website for "content review".
The widespread rumors reminded many of LG's decision to close its smartphone business in 2021. At that time, the company withdrew from the phone market after years of losses to focus on other growth areas such as electric vehicles, robotics, and smart devices.
However, the current situation in the TV market is considered significantly different. LG still maintains a strong position in the high-end TV segment, especially in the OLED market. The company also continues to invest in its webOS platform and new display technologies to maintain competitiveness against the wave of cheap TVs from China.
