In recent years, the automotive market has become increasingly diverse in terms of models, and competitive pressure in many segments of high-end vehicles, such as large 7-seater SUVs, has also intensified. This is why a model once considered quite attractive in terms of design and features, like the Hyundai Palisade, has had to constantly lower its price and offer discounts of hundreds of millions of dong to maintain its appeal. Even a powerful Ford Explorer, known for its appearance and performance, and which once experienced shortages and price increases, has been forced out of the market. In this context, the German automaker Volkswagen has surprised many by gradually strengthening the Volkswagen Teramont with new versions. Not long after adding the Teramont President, at the end of March, the German automaker continued to unveil the Volkswagen Teramont Pro Max.

The Teramont line is increasingly attracting Vietnamese customers. According to representatives from Volkswagen Vietnam, this is the driving force behind the company's addition of new versions to meet the diverse needs of users of the Volkswagen Teramont. Notably, Vietnam is one of the first markets in the world to launch the all-new Volkswagen Teramont Pro. This partly demonstrates the contribution and importance of the Teramont line in Volkswagen's development strategy in Vietnam.
While the Volkswagen Teramont X boasts a dynamic design and powerful performance, targeting younger customers, and the Teramont President is luxurious and comfortable, often described as a "presidential car," the appearance of the Teramont Pro and Teramont Pro Max, priced between 2.799 and 2.888 billion VND, has piqued the curiosity of many. Therefore, to partially "decipher" the advantages and limitations of the Volkswagen Teramont Pro, a reporter from Thanh Nien newspaper personally drove this SUV for nearly 400 km, traversing various terrains from Ho Chi Minh City to the Ke Ga lighthouse in Tan Thanh commune (Ham Thuan Nam district, former Binh Thuan province), now part of Lam Dong province.

The interior is spacious and comfortable, featuring Queen Seats for front passengers.
The sweltering heat of Ho Chi Minh City in late May only spurred our journey to the secluded coast, especially with the opportunity to travel in a majestic and imposing vehicle like the Volkswagen Teramont Pro Max. Then, as the sun rose, I yielded the driver's seat to my colleague and settled into the front passenger seat, beginning our trip.
With the third row of seats folded down to accommodate suitcases and luggage, the Teramont Pro Max still has plenty of space for four men, all over 1.65m tall. Even so, no matter where you sit in the car, it feels spacious and airy. Of course! This is because it's the largest SUV in its segment, which the manufacturer describes as a King Size Premium SUV, with a length of nearly 5.2m and a wheelbase of almost 3m.

With the largest dimensions in its segment, the Teramont Pro Max offers a spacious interior.

However, the Volkswagen Teramont Pro Max is not only spacious but also offers a comfortable, practical, and equally luxurious and modern interior. The cabin retains the simple, practical design style typical of German cars, but many details have been digitized. Many areas on the steering wheel, dashboard, etc., are finished with glossy plastic combined with leather, creating a luxurious yet understated feel.
The gear shift lever has been replaced with a rotary paddle integrated into the steering wheel, leaving space in the center console for wireless phone charging, cup holders, and the start button, volume controls, and drive mode selector. The rest, from temperature and air conditioning controls to entertainment functions, are digitized and integrated into a large 15-inch 2K resolution multi-function central screen. This layout makes the interior more streamlined while providing more space for users.

The Teramont Pro Max's interior is full of amenities, practicality, and a touch of luxury.

Practical experience shows that the screen on the Teramont Pro Max displays vividly and intuitively, with fast and smooth processing speed… but drivers still need some basic physical buttons for things like adjusting the air conditioning and fan speed… for more convenient and safer operation while driving. Of course, everyone will have different opinions, but for our group, acting as both driver and passenger, we still found it most convenient to have a few physical function buttons readily available. This issue is currently causing much debate, not only in Volkswagen vehicles but also across the entire automotive industry, especially with models originating from China.
However, one feature that provides comfort and convenience, not just a minor upgrade on the Teramont Pro Max, is the Queen Seat for front passengers. Not only does it offer exceptional comfort thanks to its thick cushioning and premium leather upholstery, but the Queen Seat in the Teramont Pro Max also features 14-way power adjustment, memory for 3 different positions, and the ability to move for easy entry and exit. Furthermore, passengers in the Queen Seat can enjoy the added comfort of cooling, heating, and 8 different massage modes.

Typically, Queen Seats are only found in the second row of premium MPVs and SUVs, but this is the first time Queen Seats have appeared in the front row of an SUV like the Teramont Pro Max. On long journeys, what could be more comfortable and relaxing than settling into a Queen Seat, enjoying soothing music from the premium 14-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, and occasionally gazing out at the scenery along the way? You can even adjust the seat back to recline and take a nap.
Furthermore, the Volkswagen Teramont Pro Max boasts a range of valuable amenities such as a panoramic sunroof, Clean Air 2.0 air purification system, Climatronic 3-zone automatic climate control, and Ambient Light interior lighting with 30 different color options. The second-row seating area is also spacious enough for comfortable legroom, alongside a central armrest and controls for the climate control system and reading lights. With these features, the interior of the Volkswagen Teramont Pro Max is like a spacious, comfortable mobile room.

The Volkswagen Teramont Pro Max is also equipped with a range of valuable amenities geared towards both the driver and passengers.

After more than an hour of driving, I gave up my Queen Seat to my colleague so I could take the wheel of this SUV myself on the journey to the coastal area near the Ke Ga lighthouse.
Powerful and smooth operation, impressive sound insulation.
Behind the steering wheel, the driver's seat is just as comfortable and convenient as the Queen Seat for passengers. The driver can select massage modes via the central display screen. The steering wheel integrates numerous function buttons, touch controls, and even a heating function, which is quite convenient when driving in cold weather.

The Teramont Pro Max operates very smoothly and steadily, even when driving over speed bumps or rough road surfaces.

Navigating through the inner city routes leading to the eastern gateway and then merging onto the Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, in Eco or Comfort driving mode controlled via a rotary knob on the center console, the Teramont Pro Max provides a very smooth and stable driving experience, even when driving over speed bumps or on rough roads. The steering wheel is light yet very precise, while also providing a very responsive feel to changes in road surface.
With a 7-seater SUV over 5 meters long, one might expect the Teramont Pro Max to struggle to navigate crowded city streets. However, the support of the Rear Cross Traffic Alert (TRA) system, 360-degree camera, Park Assist, and especially the minimum turning radius of only 5.95 meters… provides a sense of security and confidence in every maneuver. The car comes with a blind spot warning system; however, the relatively thick A-pillars, combined with the large rearview mirror housings, create a significant blind spot at a 45-degree viewing angle.

The new generation 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged gasoline engine, combined with the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, is quite responsive.

According to the announcement from our guide's walkie-talkie, after a morning coffee to boost our alertness at a rest stop on the Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, we turned onto the expressway towards Phan Thiet to continue our experience with the Teramont Pro Max. Press the gas pedal, accelerate! The new generation 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged gasoline engine combined with the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission... reacted quite quickly and responsively. Before long, the speedometer jumped to 70-80 km/h and then quickly surged to 120 km/h with a light touch of the gas pedal. At these speeds, regardless of the changing road surface, the Volkswagen Teramont Pro Max impressed not only the driver but also the passengers with its excellent sound insulation.
The passenger compartment is extremely quiet, almost imperceptible to wind noise or engine sounds. To achieve this impressive ride comfort and sound insulation, Volkswagen has improved the engine's timing chain tensioning system, used 21 kg of rubber-like sound insulation for the floor, enhanced sound insulation for the doors and luggage compartment, and combined this with 21-inch Soundcomfort tires featuring soundproofing technology within the tire's rubber structure.

The Teramont Pro Max's "personality" changes instantly with the first press of the accelerator in Sport mode.

However, the Volkswagen Teramont Pro Max isn't just "smooth and quiet"; it also knows how to excite the driver. Turning the dial to Sport mode unleashes the power of its 268-horsepower engine and 400 Nm of torque. The SUV's "personality" changes instantly with the first press of the accelerator in Sport mode. The steering feels heavier, firmer, and more precise… the engine revs up, allowing the car to reach maximum torque quite early. In an instant, the engine and gearbox react, propelling the over 2.1-ton vehicle forward at breakneck speed. The numbers on the speedometer jump rapidly, accompanied by an exhilarating sound from the exhaust.
Nevertheless, we still felt a smooth, stable, and safe ride in every seat, even when cornering. This all stems from the robustness of the new MQB Evo chassis platform, which is made from 82.3% high-strength steel, along with the adaptability and excellent damping capabilities of the suspension system.

At speeds above 100 km/h on the highway, the Teramont Pro Max still provides a solid feel and impressive sound insulation.

We arrived at the beach near the Ke Ga lighthouse as the sun was setting. After a long journey, there's nothing better than crossing the sand dunes, driving right up to the beach, enjoying a cup of tea, listening to the waves, and gazing out at the setting sun. However, with an SUV weighing over 2 tons carrying four adults… if you're not careful and lack driving skills, you could pay a heavy price if you accidentally get stuck in the sand. But with the imposing and powerful engine of the Teramont Pro Max, it's not easily defeated.
Then, get in the car! Switch to Offroad mode, floor the accelerator, and the Teramont Pro Max plunges into the sand. Despite the rough terrain and the significant resistance from the undulating sand dunes, the seamless combination of the engine, transmission, and the intelligent 6th generation 4Motion all-wheel drive system, capable of intelligently and precisely distributing power to the front and rear axles in milliseconds, allows the car to adapt quite well.

The 7-seater Teramont Pro Max SUV caters to a variety of needs, catering to those who appreciate a smooth and comfortable ride for exploring new places.

Before long, leaving behind long tire tracks imprinted on the white sand, the Volkswagen Teramont Pro Max accompanied us under the setting sun by the Kê Gà lighthouse. It was then that we had the chance to take a closer look at our fellow Teramont Pro Max. This version retains the powerful, agile, and elegant characteristics typical of the Teramont line. However, in terms of details and design elements, the Teramont Pro Max has undergone changes towards a more modern, fashionable style, closer to that of an electric vehicle. Gone are the gleaming chrome horizontal bars; the front and rear of the car utilize more glossy plastic details, creating a seamless and luxurious overall design.
After a journey totaling nearly 400 km, with its distinctive design, performance, and a host of technological features, the Volkswagen Teramont Pro Max is a worthy consideration for those seeking a vehicle for family or business use.

The Teramont Pro Max's design has evolved towards a modern, stylish look, approaching the style of electric vehicles.

Despite some limitations, with its modern design, spacious interior, good sound insulation, powerful performance, and adaptability to various terrains, the 7-seater SUV - Volkswagen Teramont Pro Max - meets diverse needs for those who prefer a smooth and comfortable ride to enjoy their exploration journeys.
