The Lunar New Year holiday schedule for 2024 and the first semester break for students in Ho Chi Minh City is as follows: Students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a Lunar New Year holiday from February 5th, 2024 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Rabbit) to February 18th, 2024 (the 9th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Dragon).
The Lunar New Year holiday schedule is included in the 2023-2024 school year timetable approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for all educational levels from preschool to high school, which specifies the start date of the school year, the opening ceremony, and the Lunar New Year holiday schedule.
First semester break schedule for students in Ho Chi Minh City
According to the school year plan approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, all levels will begin Semester I from September 5, 2023 to January 13, 2024. Semester II will begin from January 15, 2024 to May 25, 2024. The closing ceremony will be from May 26-31, 2024.
The 2023-2024 school year plan was issued by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training issued the framework plan for the 2023-2024 school year, which clearly stated the school start dates for students. Students nationwide will return to school one week earlier than the official opening day, except for first-grade students who will return two weeks earlier.
The Ministry also requested localities to report on the preparation for the school year and the organization of the opening ceremony for the 2023-2024 school year before September 10th, summarize the first semester before January 31st, 2024, summarize the school year, report on the results of implementing the emulation criteria and propose awards for the school year before June 25th, 2024.
