The program took place with performances by ethnic groups in Hoa Binh province including: Muong, Thai, Dao, Mong, Tay, Kinh... attracting thousands of people and tourists from inside and outside the province to participate.

At the opening ceremony, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Hoa Binh Province Tourism Quach Thi Kieu emphasized, Peace is a land rich in historical and cultural traditions, home to ethnic minority communities, the largest of which is the Muong, followed by the Kinh, Thai, Tay, Dao, and Mong ethnic groups.

Ethnic groups have both common culture and beliefs, and traditional culture and beliefs of each ethnic group, which are unique, rich and diverse.

Along with language, costumes are a traditional cultural heritage with easily recognizable characteristics of each ethnic group, containing artistic and historical values of each ethnic group. Each ethnic group has its own standards of costumes to create suitability and difference according to gender, age and social status.

Decorative art on costumes is also very diverse, with unique shaping styles, motifs with themes and unique techniques... these are symbols and characteristics of the culture of each nation.

However, in recent times, traditional costumes of ethnic groups are showing signs of fading away. In many localities, most ethnic minorities no longer wear traditional costumes in their daily lives, but only wear them on holidays, New Year, festivals, funerals, weddings, etc. Not only that, many young people are also hesitant and do not know how to wear their ethnic costumes properly.

Therefore, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hoa Binh province has advised the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province to periodically organize traditional costume competitions associated with festivals and cultural days; encourage artisans, actors and people from all walks of life to wear their ethnic traditional costumes when participating in meetings, festivals and performing art forms on stage.

The Hoa Binh Ethnic Costume Festival aims to continue promoting and introducing the unique value of traditional costumes of ethnic groups in the province to domestic and international tourists. Through the program, the organizers hope to arouse the aspiration and pride in the precious cultural heritage of each ethnic group.

This is also a unique cultural space for artisans, artists, and mass actors of ethnic groups in the province to exchange and share experiences in preserving and promoting traditional culture, strengthening solidarity, building a healthy and progressive cultural life; at the same time promoting local tourism development.
