Liverpool explodes 'blockbuster' Isak

After a long period of negotiation, Liverpool reached an agreement to recruit Alexander Isak for 130 million pounds.

Liverpool complete signing of Isak from Newcastle.

British media unanimously confirmed that Isak will join Liverpool when Newcastle United accepted a transfer fee of 130 million pounds. This is a record-breaking deal in Premier League history. Also in the summer of 2025, "The Kop" set this record when spending 116 million pounds to recruit Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano used the familiar phrase "Here we go" to confirm the deal was completed on the morning of September 1. "Isak will undergo a medical today and officially become a Liverpool player after reaching a personal agreement a few months ago," the Italian journalist added.

Liverpool was always Isak's only desired destination from the start. The Swedish striker went on strike and refused to return to training to pressure the Magpies to let him leave. This move made it easier for Liverpool to negotiate with Newcastle.

To replace Isak, Newcastle successfully recruited German striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for about 69 million pounds. This is also the most expensive transfer deal in the history of St James' Park.

The Isak deal takes Liverpool past the £400m mark this summer, following high-profile signings such as Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. Despite spending big on players, Liverpool have also recouped around £170m from player sales. They are also in talks to sign centre-back Marc Guehi.
