Additionally, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also stated that the USB-C port on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will offer faster data transfer speeds. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 15 version will only have the USB 2.0 standard, similar to Lightning.
USB 2.0 data transfer speeds are limited to 480 Mbps, while USB 3.2 supports speeds up to 20 Gbps. Thunderbolt 3 supports data transfer speeds up to 40 Gbps.
According to some reports, the USB-C charging port on the iPhone 15 will come with an authentication chip similar to Lightning. This chip is used to manage information sharing between devices.
Currently, many Apple devices are equipped with USB-C charging ports. However, they do not contain an authentication chip on the charging port. The iPhone 15 generation will be the first product line where Apple integrates this authentication chip.
For chargers and connecting cables that do not have the authentication chip integrated, Apple is also expected to limit certain related features such as fast charging or high-speed data transfer.
