The Vietnamese team will face Singapore in the semi-finals of the AFF Cup 2024, taking place at 8pm on December 26 in the first leg at Singapore's Jalan Besar Stadium. Three days later, at Viet Tri Stadium, the two teams will play the second leg again at 8pm. The referee team for the second leg has been revealed, namely main referee Lutfullin Rustam (Uzbekistan). Mr. Rustam's assistants Shayusupov Sanjar, Usmanov Alisher and Norsafarov Firdavs are also from Uzbekistan.
In addition, the match at Viet Tri Stadium will have the presence of VAR. The VAR technical officer is Mr. Andesit Lestyanto (Indonesia).
Referee Lutfullin Rustam is 33 years old and has experience of officiating Asia's top club tournaments (AFC Champions League Elite and AFC Champions League Two) as well as national teams (2026 World Cup qualifiers). He is a FIFA referee.

The Uzbek refereed Indonesia's 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia, including a situation where Rustam decisively denied the visiting Saudi Arabians a penalty in the second half.
Referee Rustam also officiated the match where Russia beat Brunei 11-0. At the AFF Cup 2024, referee Rustam officiated the match between Thailand and Malaysia at Rajamangala Stadium.
In November 2023, referee Rustam also officiated the match between Vietnam and the Philippines in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. That was the match in which Mr. Rustam completed his mission with the correct decision. Coach Philippe Troussier's Vietnam won 2-0 thanks to goals from Van Toan and Dinh Bac.

However, Mr. Rustam had refereed a controversial match between Olympic Japan and Olympic DPRK at the 19th Asian Games. When the score was still tied 1-1, Mr. Rustam awarded Japan a penalty after an unclear collision. Despite the protest of the DPRK players, Mr. Rustam did not reverse the decision. Olympic Japan scored from the 11m mark and won 2-1 in the end.
After the first leg, the Vietnamese team will return home on December 27. The Singapore team will also arrive in Hanoi on December 27, landing at 5:35 p.m. and then travel straight to Phu Tho to prepare for the second leg of the semi-final.
