Impressive image, early in the morning of May 8, a flying cloud disk (cloud hat) appeared at the top of Ba Den mountain, surprising and delighting many people. “Flying saucer cloud” or “cloud hat” is the figurative name for a very rare phenomenon of lenticular clouds. The special thing about lenticular clouds is that they are always motionless, rarely can any wind move them. This phenomenon has appeared on the top of Mount Fuji (Japan), the top of Mayon volcano (Philippines) or Mount Etna (Italy), causing many people to mistake them for flying saucers or unidentified flying objects (UFOs) of aliens.

The cloud cap phenomenon continues to appear, making Ba Den Mountain the center of attention.

At Ba Den Mountain, the phenomenon of flying saucer-shaped clouds appeared in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and this year continued to "reappear", making this mountain the center of these natural phenomena.

Also on the afternoon of May 8, “five-colored clouds” appeared on Ba Den Mountain. This phenomenon appeared around 4 p.m., right after the ceremony to enshrine the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni was carried from Thanh Tam Pagoda (Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City).

After about 10 minutes, another colorful cloud appeared next to this one. The colorful cloud suddenly appeared behind the Buddha statue of Tay Bo Da Son, when the ceremony of planting 108 Bodhi trees in Bodhi Garden began. Many monks, nuns, Buddhists and people used their phones to record this magical moment.

At the top of Ba Den Mountain, after enshrining the Buddha's relics, about 1,300 international delegates attending the Vesak Festival from 85 countries and territories and the Venerables of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha were present to celebrate the flower lantern ceremony to pray for world peace.

Coincidentally, the five-colored cloud appeared at Thanh Tam Pagoda, where the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni were invited from India for people to worship on the afternoon of May 5, before the opening day of the United Nations Vesak 2025. After the closing ceremony, at noon on May 8, the Buddha's relics were invited to Ba Den Mountain, and in the afternoon of the same day, the pair of five-colored clouds also appeared here.

Colorful clouds are not a rare phenomenon, but they have appeared continuously in Vietnam in recent days during the Buddha's birthday, especially in two places where Buddha's relics are located.

Not only visually impressive, iridescent clouds also have symbolic meaning in many cultures.

According to meteorologists, iridescent clouds, also known as rainbow clouds or iridescent clouds, are an optical phenomenon that occurs when sunlight is dispersed by water droplets or small ice crystals in the clouds. The formation mechanism is similar to a rainbow, but occurs under more special lighting conditions and viewing angles. This is one of the rare phenomena, usually lasting only a short time.

Not only visually impressive, iridescent clouds also have symbolic meaning in many cultures. In Eastern countries, this phenomenon is considered a good omen, a symbol of luck, peace and spiritual connection.

According to Buddhist scriptures, when the five-colored cloud appears, it symbolizes the blessing and presence of enlightened energy from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. The brilliant colors of the cloud represent the five virtues and wisdom needed in the path of practice. The five-colored cloud is considered a sacred sign that often appears during important ceremonies or when enlightened beings pass away.

The appearance of the five-colored cloud on the day of the procession of Buddha's relics and the key rituals within the framework of the 2025 Vesak Festival not only created a spectacular visual moment, but also left a special spiritual mark in the hearts of thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhists and tourists present at this sacred mountain.

The sea of white clouds floating on the top of Ba Den mountain

Recently, on the afternoon of May 10 and the morning of May 11, the sea of white clouds stretching out and floating on the top of Ba Den Mountain attracted more and more people to come here. According to local people, the surreal phenomena that appeared consecutively during the days of enshrining Buddha's relics surprised many people.

While the South is still experiencing prolonged heat with some areas reaching 39 degrees Celsius, at the top of Ba Den Mountain, the temperature is always lower, the air is cold, foggy, clouds float, the space on the top of the mountain is even more magical. Ba Den Mountain organizes 3 nights of offering lanterns (5 p.m., May 10, 11 and 12) at Tay Bo Da Son Square.

Cold air, foggy cover, floating clouds, the space on the mountain top is even more magical.

Located about 100 km from Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Den Mountain is currently becoming an attractive destination in the Southern region, due to its system of majestic spiritual structures and unique natural scenery.

According to Sun World Ba Den Mountain, the time to worship Buddha's relics at the top of Ba Den Mountain (1st floor of the Buddhist Exhibition Center) will end at 7:00 p.m. on May 12. After this time, Buddha's relics will be solemnly invited by monks to leave the top of the mountain.

Buddha's relics were enshrined at Ba Den Mountain from May 8-13, then were invited to leave the mountain top.
According to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, on the occasion of the 2025 Vesak Festival, the Buddha's relics - the national treasure of India - will be enshrined in Vietnam for 20 days. After a week of enshrining at Thanh Tam Pagoda (Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City), the Buddha's relics will be carried to Ba Den Mountain (Tay Ninh, from May 8-13), at Quan Su Pagoda (Hanoi, from May 13-16) and at Tam Chuc Pagoda (Ha Nam) from May 17-21. After that, the relics will be brought back to India.
