According to Neowin , these artificial intelligence (AI) features will be deployed to older Galaxy smartphones and tablets through the One UI 6.1 update, which is expected to be released in early May. The Galaxy AI features were initially designed exclusively for 2024 flagship smartphones, specifically the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung later expanded them to the Galaxy S23 series, Z Flip5, and Z Fold5. The company also said that the Galaxy AI features will be free until the end of 2025.
Galaxy AI is expanding to more devices
Now, in a post on a Korean community forum, a Samsung employee has confirmed that the One UI 6.1 update with Galaxy AI features will be pushed not just to the Galaxy S22 series but to the entire 2022 and 2021 flagship lineup.
Since the One UI 6.1 update with Galaxy AI features is only for the flagship series, the Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Tab S8 FE, and other lower models will miss out on the update.
Additionally, not all of the Galaxy AI features will be available to these devices. The flagship Galaxy smartphones of 2022, namely the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, S22 Ultra, Z Fold4, Z Flip4, Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8 Ultra will only receive the "Galaxy S23 FE AI" level. It is known that the Galaxy S23 FE does not take advantage of all the Galaxy AI features on the higher-end models, for example, Instant Slow-Mo that allows users to tap on any video in their library and turn it into slow motion.
The flagship Galaxy smartphones in 2021, including the Galaxy S21, S21 Plus, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Z Flip 3, and Z Fold 3, are said to have only two Galaxy AI features, including Circle to Search and Magic Rewrite.
The One UI 6.1 update for 2021 and 2022 Galaxy smartphones and tablets is scheduled for release in early May. However, this milestone may be for Korean users, while users in other countries will have to wait a little longer.
