Why is the dish of pork intestines, a favorite dish of many people, of special interest at this time?
Many opinions about the dish of intestines and tobacco
As Thanh Nien has reported, according to folklore, pig intestines, also known as double-skin intestines, are a special type of pig intestines, unlike common intestines.
This type of intestine is only found in female pigs that have lived for a long time and are weak. At that time, the inner intestine will have a shape similar to the pipes that people often use to smoke tobacco.
The heart of a pipe has become a dish that has attracted the attention of social networks in recent days.

Some people also believe that the intestines used to make cigarettes are actually the intestines of pigs with health problems or mutations. This type of intestine has the outstanding characteristics of being crispy, fatty but not greasy, giving a special feeling when enjoying it. The reason it is called "se dieu" is because the shape of the intestines resembles the tubes used to make cigarettes, with a thick outer membrane and prominent veins.
The reason this dish is so expensive, sometimes 5 million VND/kg, is because it is rare. Many people explain that this type of intestine is only found in female pigs that have lived for many years and are weak, and each pig only has one piece of intestine. Therefore, the supply of this type of intestine is very limited and not always available. Besides, the processing of this type of intestine is also elaborate, requiring technique and experience.
It all started when some social media accounts shared information about this dish with the question: Why is such a rare dish sold so widely in the market, with an abundant supply every day?
What is a pipe core, why is it rare and expensive?
An opinion that was widely shared on social networks, believed to be from the PBH account, had the following content: "My family had food for more than 30 years thanks to the pig kilns, which processed 1,000 - 2,000 pigs every day. Because of this exposure, every time I go to the market, I can just glance at a piece of meat about the size of 2 fingers and know if it is a male pig or a female pig, and know almost exactly how many kilos it weighed when it was alive (live pig).
Speaking of double-skinned intestines, in the past, about 20 years ago, when pigs in the Central region were still raised in a free-range manner, pigs ate gravel and soil, the intestines of the pigs mutated to thicken to adapt, so there were many double-skinned intestines. It is said to be many, but it is estimated that at the factory at that time, out of 1,000 pigs, there were only a few 3 pigs, each pig was estimated to weigh 1 kilo.
Currently, most pigs are raised in concentrated farms, and out of tens of thousands of pigs, maybe one has a piece of intestine and skin. And with such a rare quantity, the pig farm owner has not even seen it, let alone sold it to the market...".
It is unclear whether the information shared above is true or not, but it was shared widely shortly after. A famous chef also agreed. On his personal page, in early May, this chef posted a post calling for "stop eating intestines for sale" because "intestines are usually filled with chemicals to make intestines for sale, then sold for 10 times the price". This chef also said "if anyone who sells intestines for sale can prove that the intestines are fresh and real from the slaughterhouse, they will be rewarded with 1 billion".
Many diners are confused
Under the posts, many social media accounts expressed confusion and concern about the information shared regarding this dish. Some said it had been a favorite dish for many years. Others said they would not eat this dish again if they could not determine the exact origin of the dish they enjoyed.
Account Pham My Linh commented on the dish of intestines wrapped in tobacco, as follows: "I have a friend who works at a slaughterhouse. He said he has been slaughtering pigs for more than ten years and has never seen a pig with intestines wrapped in tobacco. He makes thousands of pigs a year."
"Oh my god! So scary!", said Phuong Thao. "I was scared when I read it", said Xuan Nguyen. Phan Nguyen Xuan Thy told her mother: "Look at this! Let's not eat it anymore".

Sharing with Thanh Nien , Ms. Chuc Linh (26 years old, living in District 3) said that the intestines are a favorite dish of her and her family. She often visits a shop specializing in this dish in the center of Ho Chi Minh City.
"At first, I learned about this dish by watching a clip on social media. Then I tried it and found it okay, so I often eat it, even though it's a bit expensive. Suddenly, a few days ago, I read information about the intestines of a pipe on the internet, so I was confused and didn't know what to do. But for now, I probably won't dare eat it anymore!", the girl shared.
Ngoc Yen (27 years old), a girl who is also "fascinated" by the dish, said that after seeing the information on social networks, she could not help but worry because she had enjoyed the dish many times. "If I eat it again, I will probably have to find a reputable slaughterhouse or place to buy it, because now it is sold everywhere outside, I don't know where to find it," the girl shared.
