According to The Sun, the flash flood occurred at around 11:30 a.m. on August 14 (local time). The flash flood destroyed a community kitchen where more than 200 pilgrims were gathering for lunch, as well as a security checkpoint.
"A large number of pilgrims were gathering for lunch and were swept away," an official said.

The flash floods have killed at least 56 people. Initial estimates put at least 80 people missing and many others still trapped under the rubble.
Rescue teams brought about 200 people to safety, but at least 50 of them were seriously injured and were treated at local hospitals.

"Search and rescue operations are underway," said Ramesh Kumar, Kishtwar district commissioner.
"Chasoti has been completely destroyed from all sides. It's heartbreaking to see this," said Abdul Majeed Bichoo, a 75-year-old local resident.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the "situation is being closely monitored" and offered his prayers to all those affected by the heavy rains and floods.
