At approximately 7 PM, a fishing boat anchored off Mui Ne, Phan Thiet City, about one kilometer from the mainland, caught fire violently. At that time, the area experienced strong winds, causing the flames to rise high and engulf the entire vessel.
The nearby anchored boats moved away to avoid being engulfed by the fire. The Mui Ne Border Guard Post dispatched personnel on duty during the Tet holiday to assist fishermen and prevent the fire from spreading.

The ill-fated vessel was later identified as belonging to fishermen from Ba Ria - Vung Tau, anchored in Mui Ne after their last fishing trip of the year. When the fire broke out, two crew members on board jumped into the sea to escape.
Local authorities are determining the cause of the fire.
