At around 7pm, a fishing boat moored in Mui Ne, Phan Thiet City, about one kilometer from the mainland caught fire. At that time, the wind was strong in the area, the fire spread high, engulfing the entire boat.

Nearby anchored ships moved away to avoid being hit by the fire. Mui Ne Border Guard Station sent out Tet duty forces to support fishermen and prevent the fire from spreading.

The boat that caught fire was later determined to be a Ba Ria – Vung Tau fisherman’s boat that had anchored in Mui Ne after a year-end fishing trip. When the fire broke out, two crew members jumped into the sea to escape.

Local authorities are determining the cause of the fire.
