On the evening of January 16, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Ms. Duong Thi Hanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Huu Lung district, Lang Son province, said that the forest fire broke out at around 6:00 p.m. the same day at Lan Khoang mountain, Lang Ben village, Huu Lien commune.
Accordingly, at the above time, people saw a fire breaking out in lots 1 and 2 of plot 5, Lan Khoang mountain and immediately reported it to the local authorities.
Upon receiving the news, the People's Committee of Huu Lien commune mobilized many security forces, forest rangers, forest management and fire prevention and fighting forces to put out the fire.
Due to the rugged mountainous terrain, the mountain is covered with ironwood trees and dry vegetation, making it very difficult to access the scene.
By 11pm, the fire was basically under control. Currently, authorities are calculating the area of burned forest and the cause.
