Driving force for rural industrial development in Ha Tinh

Certification of typical rural industrial products serves as a driving force for production facilities in Ha Tinh province to invest in expanding production scale and continuously improving product quality, design, and branding.

Last November, Ha Tinh province had 40 products and product sets from 35 enterprises, cooperatives, and production facilities recognized as typical rural industrial products at the provincial level in 2023. These included 4 handicraft products; 28 processed agricultural, forestry, aquatic, and food products; 1 product of equipment, machinery, tools, and mechanical parts; and 7 products belonging to other product categories.

Provincial leaders and the Department of Industry and Trade awarded certificates for outstanding rural industrial products at the provincial level in 2023 to 35 units.

As a business whose product was recognized as a typical rural industrial product at the provincial level in 2023, Mr. Nguyen Van Mao - owner of Hoang Nguyen Cu Do candy production facility (Huong Khe town) - excitedly said: “This is the first time our product has been certified as a typical rural industrial product at the provincial level. In 2020, our product was certified under the OCOP program, which expanded our market and increased revenue by about 30% compared to before. Currently, we supply about 2,500 sheets of Cu Do candy to the market every day, mainly sold at long-distance bus stops, shops, and mini-supermarkets. We hope that with this certification as a typical rural industrial product, our product will further solidify its reputation and brand, thus gaining more customer trust.”

Hoang Nguyen's peanut brittle production facility sells approximately 2,500 pieces of peanut brittle per day to the market.

An Phat Science and Technology Co., Ltd. is a company with 2 products and 1 product set recognized as typical rural industrial products at the provincial level this year, including Omega brown rice flakes, Omega brown rice tea, and a product set: cereal powder, nutritional powder, and Omega brown rice powder.

Mr. Le Van An, the company's director, shared: "In 2021 and 2022, we had products that received provincial and regional certifications. This year, receiving the provincial-level certification for outstanding rural industrial products is a great honor and source of pride for our business. This motivates us to invest in developing production on an industrial scale, enhancing product value; at the same time, this title will help consumers trust the quality of our products more and make it easier for us to introduce our products into large distribution systems."

An Phat Science and Technology Co., Ltd. has two products and one product set recognized as typical rural industrial products at the provincial level this year.

Sharing more about the company's operations, Mr. Le Van An said: "The company currently has 13 products on the market, including 5 products launched in 2023. These products are available in many supermarket chains and organic food stores in provinces and cities nationwide. This year, we invested approximately 5 billion VND in building a factory and installing machinery and equipment. In 2024, the company plans to expand by adding another factory, investing in more drying systems, and expanding its raw material sourcing areas to increase production scale.”

It is understood that the selected products must meet the criteria stipulated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade regarding the selection of outstanding rural industrial products, such as criteria related to market and production development potential; economic, technical, social, and environmental criteria; and cultural and aesthetic criteria. Therefore, the certified products are those that meet quality standards, have high utility value, and possess potential for production development.

Tam Thien Huong agarwood from Linh Trang Trading and Service Co., Ltd. (Ha Tinh City) is one of 40 products that received the provincial-level certification as a typical rural industrial product in 2023.

According to data from the Department of Industry and Trade, to date, through various selection processes, Ha Tinh has 166 outstanding rural industrial products at the provincial level, 38 outstanding rural industrial products at the regional level, and 13 outstanding rural industrial products at the national level. To develop outstanding rural industrial products, the Department of Industry and Trade annually connects businesses, cooperatives, and rural industrial production facilities to participate in exhibitions, trade conferences, and supply-demand connection events; thereby, giving these units the opportunity to promote their products and brands and expand their markets.

According to Mr. Le Xuan Tu, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, the selection of outstanding rural industrial products at all levels aims to recognize and honor businesses, cooperatives, and production facilities with quality products and development potential. Products that receive the outstanding rural industrial certification are stamped with identification labels, building credibility with customers, thereby motivating businesses to invest in production development, focus on brand building, and enhance product value to increase competitiveness in the market, contributing to promoting the development of rural industry and the industrial sector in general.
