According to information from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), in the first 4 months of 2024, the number of Vietnamese visitors to this country reached 233,800, an increase of 8.1% over the same period in 2023. According to statistics from the Japan Tourism Agency, in the first 4 months of 2024, the number of international visitors to Japan reached more than 11.6 million. In April alone, there were 61.6 thousand Vietnamese visitors to this country. Notably, in March, the number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan was 67.4 thousand, the highest in history if calculated by month.
With the current growth momentum, the number of tourists to Japan in 2024 could surpass the 31.88 million mark - the record level recorded in 2019, before the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.
Responding to Kyodo News, Japan's leading news agency, a government official explained: "Domestic tourism demand tends to increase during the cherry blossom season." It is known that this April, the cherry blossom season came later than usual due to the cold weather, but tourists and Japanese people still enjoyed the elegant flowers in full bloom.

For Vietnamese tourists, the “Golden Route” journey is still chosen by many people when visiting the land of the rising sun. On this journey, tourists will set foot in 3 major cities of Japan: Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. The massive structures, architecture, beautiful natural landscapes, and the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity of this country have left many impressions on visitors.
Besides the destinations that have always been loved by Vietnamese tourists such as Tokyo, Kyoto or Mount Fuji, other regions of this country all possess their own beauty, promising to bring many rich experiences to international visitors.
In the coming time, JNTO Vietnam will launch a Japan tourism promotion campaign in 2024 with the theme “Japan - local experiences, diverse discoveries ”. This campaign aims to inform tourists about the diversity and richness of Japan's tourist destinations and experiences, helping tourists have more options when coming to this country.
Picnics and cherry blossom viewing in early spring in Japan are called “Hanami”. During the blooming season, people gather with family and friends under the cherry blossoms to enjoy the cool spring weather. In recent years, this special custom has attracted a large number of tourists. Many international tourists choose to come to Japan every spring just to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom. |
