At the training session of U23 Vietnam on the evening of July 23, Pham Ly Duc was the only player who did not appear. It is known that this central defender stayed at the hotel to rest and was carefully examined by doctors for an ankle injury.
Before that, he was injured in the match where U23 Vietnam won U23 Cambodia 2-1. In this match, it was Ly Duc who opened the score for coach Kim Sang Sik's team.

In fact, Ly Duc showed signs of ankle pain during the warm-up before the match against U23 Cambodia. After being treated by a doctor and given painkillers, the defender who had just joined CAHN Club still tried to play. However, he was forced to leave the field in the 71st minute after a collision with an opposing player. He was replaced by Dang Tuan Duong.
Currently, the ankle injury of the midfielder born in 2003 is being closely monitored by doctors. He left open the possibility of playing in the match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Philippines in the semi-finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament. If this happens, it will be a big loss for the defending champion.
Under coach Kim Sang Sik, Ly Duc is a promising central defender. He has a good physique, intelligent and passionate playing style, and was promoted to the Vietnamese national team by the Korean strategist in the training session in June to compete with Malaysia in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
The semi-final match between U23 Vietnam vs U23 Philippines will take place at 4:00 p.m. on July 25, at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, in Jakarta (Indonesia).
