According to information from the producer, Flip Side 7: A Wish shown in international markets from June 14. Ly Hai's film is released in 12 countries including the US, Canada, UK, Scotland, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland.
On Asian Movie Pulse, author Panos Kotzathanasis said he noticed Flip Side 7 because this is the second highest-grossing Vietnamese film in history. In addition, Lat Mat is the highest-grossing series in Vietnam, with a total of more than 1,000 billion VND.
In his review, Panos Kotzathanasis assessed that the plus point of Lat mat 7 is its strong exploitation of Vietnamese images, from idyllic to urban scenes. "This is the most impressive aspect of the film. DP Nguyen Ngoc Cuong brings a marvelous visual part, thanks to the two main tones of reddish brown and pastel," the expert wrote.
Experts also highly appreciated Ly Hai's exploitation of the story of Mrs. Hai and her children to demonstrate values and filial piety in modern society. Panos Kotzathanasis also said that artist Thanh Hien (Mrs. Hai) performed emotionally and impressively.
However, Panos Kotzathanasis believes that there are times when Ly Hai falls into the abyss of forced sentimentality, the tragic plot is pushed too far. The author believes that Lat mat 7: Mot giau uoc would be tighter if the film were shorter, instead of 139 minutes.
"Although there are some shortcomings related to the way the film's theme is developed, Lat Mat 7 generally has beautiful scenes, suitable for people who like to watch family movies," Panos Kotzathanasis commented.
After the European market, the producer announced that Lat mat 7 will be shown in Asia, starting with Taiwan (China) on June 21. According to information provided by Ly Hai, Mot giau uoc is holding the record for the Asian film with the highest number of screening locations in the Taiwanese market, with 86 locations (accounting for 95% of the total number of theaters).
Regarding the reason for choosing Taiwan, China as the first place to show Lat mat 7 in Asia (excluding the Vietnamese market), Ly Hai said: "I want to see the audience's reaction in Taiwan first, simply because there are many Vietnamese people in this market, besides Singapore."
The director of Lat mat 7 said the crew discussed plans to screen the film in Japan and several other countries in Southeast Asia.
After more than two months of release, Lat mat 7: Mot giau uoc has earned more than 478.5 billion VND at Vietnamese theaters, according to statistics from Box Office Vietnam. The film helped Ly Hai surpass the revenue record of Nha ba Nu, becoming the second highest-grossing work in Vietnamese film history. Lat mat 7 also helped Ly Hai become the second trillion-VND director in Vietnam, after Tran Thanh.
