Madam Pang, President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), was recently hospitalized due to exhaustion after a period of intense fighting to keep the "locomotive" of Thai football from the risk of losing everything.
On the afternoon of April 23, she suddenly shared a photo of herself lying on a hospital bed with a tired face, making fans worried and continuously sending wishes for her health.
This is due to the pressure from the huge debt of 360 million baht (more than 290 billion VND) that FAT has to pay in compensation and interest from the lawsuit to unilaterally terminate the 2016 television copyright contract with Siam Sport Company.
Ms. Pang suddenly shared a photo of herself in the hospital on her personal page.
In March, at a press conference on March 11, Ms. Pang could not hold back her tears when talking about having to bear the debt left by her predecessor, Somyot Poompanmoung. To “rescue” the federation, the FAT President withdrew 25 million baht of her own money (about 20 billion VND) as an advance payment to Siam Sport, in order to prevent the Enforcement Agency from forcibly seizing FAT’s assets.
FAT and Siam Sport are expected to negotiate a payment plan for the remaining debt on May 11. In addition, Ms. Pang also launched the campaign “Thai people love Thai football” with activities such as selling jerseys and performing to raise funds.
However, the recent strong earthquake in Thailand forced the postponement of many events, causing the shirt sales plan to fall into a deadlock. Madam Pang and the FAT leadership are still working tirelessly to find resources, hoping to soon help Thai football overcome this difficult period.
