Ho Chi Minh City launches summer volunteer campaign in special context

(NLDO) - The 2025 summer volunteer programs and campaigns are being implemented in the context of the country's transformation, operating a two-level government apparatus.

On the morning of June 29, the launching ceremony of the 32nd Green Summer Volunteer Campaign in 2025, the 14th Green Tutor Program in 2025 and the implementation of the peak activity day "Volunteer soldiers pioneering digital transformation, accompanying localities" took place enthusiastically at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House.

This is an activity jointly organized by the City Youth Union, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Youth Union, and the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Student Association.

Before leaving for duty, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, had four messages for the volunteer soldiers.

Firstly, continue to strongly promote the spirit, will and volunteer tradition of the city's youth. Each soldier needs to be ready to accept difficult and new tasks, proactively engage in places that need young people, considering this as "the heart's command".

Second, volunteer activities must be closely linked to the practical context of the city in the context of new administrative boundaries. This year, many student teams supported localities in editing and digitizing documents, implementing the "Digital Education for All" movement, and teams organized summer activities for children in wards, communes, and new special zones, ensuring the smooth operation of the Youth Union and Association at all levels and the youth and student movements, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, wished good health and encouraged the Green Summer 2025 volunteer soldiers.

Third, continue to innovate the way volunteer activities are organized. Bring volunteer activities into depth, adapting to the increasingly diverse requirements and conditions of each locality and each target group. Each project and each task must answer the question: "Does it solve the local problem? Does it bring practical, long-term value to the community?"

Fourth, during the performance of duties, it is necessary to ensure safety, maintain discipline and build a good image of volunteer soldiers in the hearts of the people, so that "when they stay, the people love them, when they leave, the people remember them".

The Green Summer volunteer campaign and the Green Shirt Tutor program were initiated from the Summer Cultural Light Campaign in 1994. Up to now, the summer volunteer movement of the city's youth has gone through three decades.
