The charity group Dien Ban in the flood area of Dak Lak

ĐNO - In the last days of November, when the floodwaters receded, many residential areas in Dak Lak were still covered in mud and damaged household appliances. While people were struggling with small tasks to rebuild their lives, a group of young workers from Dien Ban (Da Nang city) traveled hundreds of kilometers, bringing tools, machines and warm hearts to "revive" each vehicle and each piece of equipment for people in the flood-prone area of Hoa Thinh.

Understanding the difficulties that people face after the flood, Mr. Doan Thanh Tam (Dien Ban ward, Da Nang city) called on auto repairmen, electricians, and refrigeration technicians to join hands to support people in the flood-affected areas. The call quickly received a response. Within just two days, 31 skilled workers from many fields temporarily put aside their personal work and headed to the flood-affected area of Hoa Thinh, Dak Lak province.

In addition to specialized tools, the group also brought generators, repair tools, pots and pans, and food to take care of their own living needs. Notably, many members, despite being busy dealing with the consequences of floods in their hometowns, still insisted on joining the trip.

Moved by the group's goodwill, many benefactors donated more than 80 million VND. The group used this money to buy spark plugs, spare parts, oil... to replace for free for the people. The remaining funds were donated to those in especially difficult circumstances.

The trip was made even more meaningful when it carried 200 gifts and 1,600 notebooks sent by benefactors, who asked the group to deliver them directly to students and people in flooded areas. The group's trip also received enthusiastic support from local volunteers.

At around 2:00 p.m. on November 28, as soon as they arrived in Phu Phong village (Hoa Thinh commune), the group immediately started working without any time to rest. Two "field repair shops" were set up right in the yard of the residents, operating continuously from noon to evening, shining brightly all night. People brought motorbikes, pumps, washing machines, fans, rice cookers... in large numbers, with the hope of quickly repairing essential equipment that had been submerged in floodwater for many days.

Mr. Tam said that on the first day, the team worked tirelessly, even at 9 pm, people still brought vehicles and equipment to ask for support. One notable case was a man who had just bought a car two days ago and was caught in the flood, bringing his car in with a worried mood. Just over half an hour later, when the car started again, he could not contain his emotions and sent his sincere thanks.

In another case, a mother brought her college daughter to the motorbike at 9pm, asking for urgent repair so that she could get her daughter to school the next morning. Because of the late hour, the group had to arrange for the mother and daughter to return the following morning. At exactly 5am, the members woke up and started repairing the motorbike, ensuring that when the mother and daughter returned at 6am, the motorbike would be ready for the daughter to go to school.

Mr. Luu Cong Dinh (Phu Phong village, Hoa Thinh commune) said that this is the first group to come to support vehicle and electrical equipment repairs - an urgent need that people are extremely looking forward to after the flood recedes.

“The children worked tirelessly,” Mr. Dinh shared emotionally. “It is truly precious and appreciated. They not only helped repair vehicles and electrical equipment, but also brought the warmth and sharing of the people in the flooded areas of Da Nang to us, giving us more motivation to help people here firmly recover after the natural disaster. This affection will certainly remain in our hearts forever.”

In just two days, the team of workers from Dien Ban repaired hundreds of vehicles and household appliances for the people. At the same time, thanks to the support from the people of Dien Ban (old), the volunteer group gave necessities to the households that suffered heavy damage, and encouraged them to stabilize their lives soon.

Specifically, in two working days, the group repaired for free: 286 motorbikes; 65 refrigerators, washing machines, water purifiers; 122 pumps, fans, rice cookers; and repaired household electricity for 5 households. Regarding charity work, the group gave 100 gifts with cash of 200,000 VND/gift; and at the same time connected with the Dong Nai delegation to give 150 more similar gifts. The group also supported 11 households with deceased people or collapsed houses (1 million VND/gift) and 2 especially difficult cases (2 million VND/gift). In addition, 1,600 notebooks were sent to Hoa Dong Primary School, along with many other essential gifts such as essential oils, clothes, rice, milk, and candy.

“The work was three times more than expected, but everyone tried their best. Euê hương Điện Bàn also just experienced a historic flood, and the group members themselves suffered a lot of damage, so we understand and sympathize deeply with the people in the flood-hit Dak Lak area. The group will do its best to help as much as possible,” said Mr. Tâm.

Hundreds of devices have been “revived”. The workers worked from noon until late at night, taking turns eating meals in just 15 minutes, all with the desire to repair as many vehicles and devices as possible to help the people. “We don’t know what else to say, we can only thank the kindness of the people of Quang Nam and Da Nang,” Mr. Dinh emotionally shared.

After two days of tireless efforts, the Dien Ban volunteer workers left, leaving behind the “revived” electrical equipment and vehicles for the people of Hoa Thinh flood area. They not only repaired the material but also contributed to “healing” the spirit, rekindling the faith of the people of Phu Phong (Hoa Thinh) in the difficult days.
