Liverpool with home advantage, better strength and form were expected to beat Man United to catch up with Arsenal in the title race. But Liverpool soon received a cold shower when Ryan Mbeumo scored to put Man United ahead.
In the 2nd minute, from the right wing, Ahmad Diallo passed the ball to Mbeumo who then fired a powerful right-footed shot into the near corner, beating Liverpool's goalkeeper and opening the score.
After Mbeumo's goal, Man United retreated to defend and waited for the opportunity to launch a decisive blow to finish off their opponent.
