Associate Professor, Dr. Chau Ngoc Hoa, born in 1959, is one of the representative faces of the Vietnamese Cardiology industry. She has devoted her entire career to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City - where she studied, taught, and contributed more than 40 years to the medical training career.
From 1978 to present, she has held many important positions: Vice Principal, Head of the Faculty of Medicine, Head of the Department of General Internal Medicine and Head of the Department of Cardiology at Gia Dinh People's Hospital. She also worked as Director of the Center for Training Medical Human Resources according to Social Needs (University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City) and was also a professional consultant at Gia Dinh People's Hospital.
Not only is she an exemplary teacher, Associate Professor, Dr. Chau Ngoc Hoa is also a dedicated researcher, with dozens of scientific works published domestically and internationally. Her publications focus on areas such as hypertension, heart failure, dyslipidemia, and myocardial infarction – the leading cardiovascular diseases today.
Continuing that tradition, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh Van, her daughter, also graduated and successfully defended her doctoral thesis at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City. Her thesis, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Truong Quang Binh, was titled: "Phenotypes of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and their relationship with cardiovascular events in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes."

This study has been made public by the school on its website since July 2024, contributing to the internal medicine knowledge base, especially in the field of cardiology and metabolism.
During the recent doctoral award ceremony, the Board of Directors of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City invited Associate Professor Dr. Chau Ngoc Hoa to join them on stage to congratulate their daughter. The moment when two generations – mother as associate professor, daughter as doctor – stood side by side in the solemn academic space deeply moved many lecturers and students.
