From the emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind" in the period of 2021 - 2025, there have been many examples of self-reliance to escape poverty, with good models to help escape poverty sustainably.

Share the love

Attending the program, Mr. Tran Dinh Tai - Acting Deputy General Director of Hoa Sen Group - shared the story of accompanying orphans and children in difficult circumstances through the program "Warm Vietnamese Family".

Since October 2022, the project has traveled to 45 provinces and cities across the country and spread love to 402 orphaned students in difficult circumstances. Thanks to the support from the program and benefactors, the children have had the opportunity to continue going to school to nurture their dreams and develop comprehensively.

Over the past 3 years, 38 orphans have been cared for and supported by the Kon Tum Provincial Police Women's Committee with the "Godmother" model. Of these, 26 children were directly sponsored with a total support budget of more than 1.4 billion VND. Many meaningful programs such as "Steps to School", "Spring Volunteer", "Warm Winter Clothes" ... have contributed to creating a positive living and learning environment for orphans.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tu - representative of "Charity House Building Team No. 02" in Dong Thap province - told the story of 9 years of tirelessly helping the poor in the Mekong Delta provinces to stabilize their housing.

From 35 members, the group has grown to more than 80 members, divided into 5 groups taking turns building houses for disadvantaged households in and outside the locality.

Since its establishment, the group has built more than 170 charity houses, each worth 25 - 30 million VND, with a total cost of nearly 4.5 billion VND and more than 44,600 working days. This journey has made the dream of "settling down" of many people who are still facing difficulties in life come true.

Creating sustainable livelihoods

At the meeting, a representative of the Lam Dong Provincial Social Policy Bank branch said that in the recent period, the unit has provided loans to 17,002 households to escape poverty with a total amount of VND 27,747 billion, creating jobs for 30,886 people.

Thanks to this loan, Mr. Huynh Van Vu (Hau Giang province) was able to escape poverty and stabilize his life. From his job as a bricklayer, Mr. Vu boldly borrowed 40 million VND from the Social Policy Bank to invest in building a pig farm, earning an annual profit of about 100 million VND.

Currently, Mr. Vu also rents more land for farming, becoming a shining example of self-reliance in overcoming poverty in the locality.

Another typical model that helps people escape poverty sustainably is the aloe vera production model linked to the value chain of Son Phat Cooperative, Ninh Thuan. Mr. Thanh Lai Chu - Director of Son Phat Agricultural Service Cooperative - said that the model has created sustainable livelihoods for 32 Raglai households (including 14 poor households, 17 near-poor households and 1 newly escaped poverty household). This is a typical model of production linkage and poverty reduction in a particularly difficult area.

For a Vietnam where "no one is left behind"

According to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (now the Ministry of Home Affairs), the national multidimensional poverty rate in 2024 is 4.06% (down 1.65% compared to 2023).

The country still has more than 1.2 million poor and near-poor households. In total, the country has nearly 600,000 poor households (accounting for 1.93%). Near-poor households have about 650,000 households (accounting for 2.13%).

The above figures are the result of the emulation movement "For the poor - Leaving no one behind" in the period 2021 - 2025. The movement has accompanied people in the process of sustainable poverty reduction.

The exchange not only recognized the great contributions of individuals and groups in this movement but also spread a positive message about the spirit of striving and creativity in poverty reduction.
