- These days, the people of Sao Ha village, Mai Sao commune, Chi Lang district are very happy and excited because the local bridge has been completed and put into use.
In early July 2024, we had the opportunity to visit Sao Ha village, Mai Sao commune. Leading us on the new bridge, Mr. Nong Van Vuong, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Sao Ha village shared: Currently, Sao Ha village has 166 households with 729 people, the villagers mainly rely on agriculture and forestry. Previously, Khuoi Khon bridge in Sao Ha village was a temporary bamboo bridge built by the villagers themselves. By 2020, with the attention of the State, the bridge was invested in construction and upgrading, however, due to the impact of storms and rains, by 2022, the bridge was broken and collapsed, making it unsafe for people to travel, and cars could hardly pass.
Faced with that reality, the villagers are eager to invest in building a bridge to serve their travel needs. At village meetings and meetings with voters, the villagers have repeatedly petitioned the government and relevant agencies to pay attention to investing in building the Khuoi Khon bridge. In April 2024, the village received support and started building the bridge under the State and People working together method. The villagers were very excited and agreed to build the bridge.
By June 2024, the project was handed over and put into use, meeting the travel needs of the villagers. Accordingly, the bridge is 18m long, 3m wide, including 3 spans, 4 piers, with a total construction cost of 384 million VND. Of which, Huu Nghi Xuan Cuong Joint Stock Company supported 220 million VND; the State supported 44 tons of cement and 73.3 million VND; the rest was contributed by the villagers.
Mr. Hoang Van Tan (60 years old), a resident of Sao Ha village, said: Previously, the Khuoi Khon bridge was damaged and collapsed due to heavy rain and floods, so it was very difficult for villagers to travel, posing a potential safety risk. With the State's propaganda, my family and other households in the village voluntarily contributed money and labor to join hands to build the bridge. Previously, harvesting agricultural products was very difficult, especially in the rainy season, having to transport them by motorbike each trip across the temporary bridge, which was very laborious and time-consuming. Since the new bridge was built, travel has become more convenient, cars come to the garden to buy, traders no longer force prices down, and the trading activities of villagers with the central villages of the commune are more convenient, so the villagers are very excited.
The completion and use of the Khuoi Khon bridge is of great significance, not only to Mr. Tan's family but also to the villagers. It is known that the bridge has met the needs of travel, agricultural production, and trade of nearly 100 households in the village, especially since the new bridge was built, more than 80 students in the village can go to school more safely and conveniently.
Mr. Le Thanh Nghi, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: As soon as they heard about the plan to build a bridge, the people in Sao Ha village were very happy and agreed to contribute money and working days to build the project. With the new bridge, the households in the village can travel more conveniently, no longer fearing every time the water rises during heavy rains and floods, but instead, the people can confidently boost production to develop the economy , rise up to reduce poverty, and get rich right on their homeland.
Leaving Sao Ha village, the images of children laughing and playing carefree, and farmers excitedly carrying their harvested agricultural products to sell remained in our hearts. It can be seen that the construction and use of the Khuoi Khon bridge not only contributes to ensuring traffic safety but is also an important factor in helping the people of Sao Ha village develop their socio-economy, thereby making an important contribution to the implementation of the commune's new rural construction program.
