“Vehicle tracking devices help fishing vessels operate transparently and avoid violating foreign waters. When incidents occur at sea, fishermen can easily inform the mainland for assistance,” shared Huynh Van Hau, a fisherman from Phan Ngoc Hien Commune.
Besides inspecting vessel tracking devices, the Rach Goc Border Guard Station also incorporates the dissemination of information to fishermen regarding regulations related to preventing and combating IUU fishing, search and rescue operations at sea, and legal regulations in fisheries exploitation. Much of this information is transmitted directly through the vessel tracking system, helping fishermen stay updated during their activities at sea.
Officers from the Rach Goc Border Guard Station inspect the vessel tracking device on the fishing boat of Mr. Vo Minh Dat.
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Quoc Trung, Commander of Rach Goc Border Guard Station, said: “Vehicle tracking devices are an important tool that helps border guards manage fishing vessels more effectively. Through this system, the unit can monitor and control the activities of fishing vessels, promptly remind them when there are signs of violations, and support fishermen in emergency situations at sea.”
According to the Ca Mau Provincial Border Guard Command, maintaining the inspection and management of fishing vessels through vessel tracking devices not only contributes to improving the effectiveness of state management at sea but also creates a significant change in fishermen's awareness of sustainable fisheries exploitation. Through this, it gradually contributes to the effective implementation of solutions to combat IUU fishing, protect aquatic resources, and maintain the sovereignty of the nation's seas and islands.
