“Remember the person who planted the tree when eating the fruit” and “Remember the source when drinking the water” are the eternally good morals of our nation. For our country to have the foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it is today, it is thanks to the forging of thousands of years of history, the glorious martial arts and brilliant literary works of our ancestors, especially thanks to the boundless sacrifices of our mothers, of the generations of heroes, brave soldiers and veterans in today’s era.

With that great merit in mind, today, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the reunification of the country and the North and South, with the consent of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, the People's Army Newspaper and accompanying units are extremely proud and moved to meet 50 delegates who are Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, heroes, brave soldiers, and veterans nationwide at the Reunification Hall of the special national relic of the Independence Palace to organize the program "50 years of Total Victory is ours".

Yesterday, on the Vietnam Airlines flight, our delegation came here from Hanoi to prepare for this meeting. As usual, the flight time was 1 hour and 45 minutes. In the near future, when the North-South high-speed railway is completed, the people will still be waiting for the day to board the evening trains departing from Hanoi to drink coffee early in the morning in the City named after Uncle Ho. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have become very close in time, space, very close in eyes, smiles and breaths. However, going back in time 50 years ago, at 11:30 on April 30, 1975, when comrade Bui Quang Than planted the liberation flag on the roof of the Independence Palace, it was still the same geographical distance, still this building, but to get here, our nation had to go through a long march of exactly 30 years. In that long march soaked in blood and flowers, there were more than 1.1 million martyrs; 600,000 wounded soldiers and more than 100,000 heroic Vietnamese mothers.

Along with that, hundreds of thousands of mothers lost their children, wives lost their husbands, children lost their fathers, were separated and scattered, mourning to the utmost. It was a great sacrifice, but through it, it demonstrated the indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people: Rather sacrifice everything than lose the country, never become slaves!

We all understand one thing: The most precious thing for a human being is his body, his life. In a person's life, youth is the most beautiful and precious. Yet for the Liberation Army, when the Fatherland was in danger, they were ready and selflessly dedicated to the Fatherland. That is an absolute dedication, immeasurable. Extremely sacred. Extremely noble. That dedication moves the hearts and minds of millions of people on earth, is an endless source of inspiration for generations of young Vietnamese to follow the example of building and protecting the Fatherland, is an endless source of inspiration for poetry, music and painting whenever they want to praise the noble qualities of human beings. , like the verse of soldier Tran The Tuyen, former Chief of the People's Army Newspaper's representative office in Ho Chi Minh City.

Major General Doan Xuan Bo and Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, presented flowers and gifts to express gratitude to the heroic Vietnamese Mother.

We also understand that, in war, the ones who suffer the most and make the greatest sacrifices are mothers. Children are love, ideals, hope, and support. What is more precious than the child you gave birth to? Yet, mothers are willing to sacrifice that most precious thing to the place of life and death. Not only did she see her children off three times, and cry silently twice like the lyrics of a song, but Mother Nguyen Thi Thu in Thanh Quyt village, Dien Thang commune, Dien Ban district, Quang Nam province had 9 sons, 1 son-in-law, and 2 grandchildren who were martyrs. Her daughter, Le Thi Tri, is also a heroic Vietnamese mother because her husband and 2 children were martyrs. Nowhere on earth is there such a great sacrifice. There is no more terrible human suffering. There is no more intense spirit of independence and freedom. That spirit is present in the hearts of Vietnamese Mothers, present in the blood of Vietnamese people, all dedicated to the Fatherland without calculation, so that our nation can blossom with independence, bear fruit of freedom, and rise up strongly as today.

Today, along with the exchange program, the Organizing Committee also has a small gift to send to the Mothers and comrades. Just a small gift. We would like to say that: History is a continuous flow and history is being continued completely and beautifully. The blood and effort of our fathers and brothers who were shed for the day of Total Victory are being crystallized into the strength of Vietnam.

Accompanying the People's Army Newspaper to express gratitude to the Mothers and comrades today, along with a number of units, localities, and schools in Ho Chi Minh City, there are also the North Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank, Vietnam Gas Corporation, Dong Bac Corporation, Him Lam Joint Stock Company, and Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company. The business units operate in different fields, with locations in the North and the South, including both military and non-military enterprises. The reason for this is that the Organizing Committee wants to report to the Mothers, heroes, brave soldiers, and veterans that today's generation across our country, the army and the people are all joyfully welcoming the 50th anniversary of our total victory. When the bloody footsteps of the Liberation Army - Uncle Ho's soldiers - reached the Independence Palace, that was the moment to engrave the golden historical milestone of Total Victory, the North and the South were united, opening up new horizons of ambition and aspiration for a strong nation.

It is also the moment to place on the shoulders of the next generations the task of fighting on a new front - the front of poverty, backwardness and backwardness. The units accompanying the People's Army Newspaper present today are the pioneer soldiers on the new front to continue writing new feats in the new era, realizing the eternal dream of prosperity and civilization, so that the day of Total Victory 50 years ago has more meaning.

Half a century has passed. The Mothers are old, their eyes are dim, their legs are slow. The heroes, brave soldiers, and veterans who participated in the resistance war against the US to save the country are also old, many have returned to their comrades. Those who remain today are extremely precious historical witnesses. Our time today to meet and interact with the witnesses is extremely fortunate and meaningful. I hope that my press colleagues and all of us, using the most modern means, will preserve this special moment, preserve the images of historical witnesses in flesh and blood, simple but seemingly legendary. Let's do everything we can so that our descendants will not have to worry about learning about the soldiers of the Ho Chi Minh era, like we are still wondering today when looking for the relics of our ancestors, then spending a lot of effort to learn, to debate about the height and weight of the soldiers who defeated the Mongol army three times, what their clothes were like, what weapons they had?

And from the bottom of our hearts, we pray that the Mothers, the comrades who are witnesses of history, live long and healthy lives, that is the blessing of the country, the blessing of today's young generation. I know that the Heroes, brave soldiers, and veterans are those who have gone through life and death, so they are always calm with life and responsible for every moment of their lives. In the hallway a few minutes ago, I saw you guys hugging each other very tightly and then encouraging each other: Yes. That's right! The enemy's bullets and bombs cannot subdue you guys.

From the bottom of our hearts, we always wish you to be strong and brave forever, to live long, to live in place of your comrades who fell at a very young age. We also want to hold on to this peaceful scene like this morning to see, to listen to you - the people who made history - tell stories about heroic deeds. And with pride rising, I suddenly thought of the scene nearly 800 years ago of the Tran Dynasty after defeating the Mongol invaders: . I believe that, we all believe that, on the endless timeline of the universe, as well as the Nguyen Phong year of the Tran Dynasty, at 11:30 on April 30, 1975, the Ho Chi Minh era is also a cultural symbol of national defense that will be forever remembered, forever praised, forever shining on the timeline and shining in the hearts of the Vietnamese people.
