Immersed in watching Vo Minh Lam "turn old" and Tu Suong "turn into a double" in the play "The Great Viet's Speech"

On the afternoon of October 9, at Tran Huu Trang Theater, Dai Viet New Reformed Theater held a review of the classic reformed play "Dai Viet's Speechbook", attracting a large number of experts and artists to attend.

The play will officially premiere on the evening of October 11 at Tran Huu Trang Theater, promising a special event not only about art but also carrying deep gratitude for Vietnam's traditional theatrical heritage.

A legacy revived from passion, with the participation of Vo Minh Lam

The play "The Great Viet Map" is the crystallization of the passion of three generations of artists: author Ha Van Cau - Loan Thao - People's Artist Thanh Tong, who devoted his whole life to preserving and developing the ancient Tuong genre.

People's Artist Que Tran said that recreating this play is to continue the wishes of her respected father, and at the same time marks 100 years of the Minh To family's attachment to the traditional theater profession.

After the resounding success of the play "The Saddle Poem" (April 2025), "The Dai Viet Poetry" is the second project that People's Artist Que Tran's family trusted to entrust to "producer" Hoang Song Viet and director Meritorious Artist Hoa Ha, two artists who are always steadfast in the philosophy of "preserving the ancient soul through the language and perspective of the contemporary generation".

It is this combination that has created a creative investment team for the play that is mature enough, and at the same time shows that the actors have burned their energy, accompanying the director, Meritorious Artist Hoa Ha, to bring success to the play "The Great Viet Map".

The talented mark of director Hoa Ha

Director Meritorious Artist Hoa Ha breathed new life into the play "The Great Viet Map", where she created a glorious symbol, carrying the spirit of the epic through the way of creating Vietnamese historical characters. The original work has been staged by many directors, not to mention the excerpts of the performance were exploited for many candidates to choose to compete in festivals, performances, talent search contests... but with the new version of director Hoa Ha, the play has increased tempo, has interaction, attracting young audiences today.

Sublime performance of Vo Minh Lam and co-stars – the spirit of Dai Viet shines

If the play "The Poem of the Horse Saddle" captivated the audience with the harmonious combination of People's Artist Que Tran - Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam, this time, the director took the risk of "breaking the golden couple" to create a new artistic challenge. Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam - from the familiar image of a handsome double - transformed into the veteran general Nguyen Dia Lo, a talented general under Tran Hung Dao. The role requires inner depth and strong expressiveness, showing a different Vo Minh Lam: mature, fierce and imbued with a tragic spirit.

In addition, Meritorious Artist Tu Suong plays a double role for the first time, portraying the character Nguyen Phuc very impressively. This is a new challenge but also an opportunity for her to show off her ability to transform into a diverse and deeply emotional male character, a general who seems to have lost his way but still chooses the righteous path to uphold the spirit of patriotism.

People's Artist Que Tran still maintains her standard demeanor, smooth and delicate singing and acting in the role of Bao Tram, making the audience clearly feel the temperament of a worthy descendant in the Minh To lineage.

With a talented cast such as: Dien Trung, Minh Truong, Le Thanh Thao, Nha Thy, Kim Ngan, Thanh Son, Pham Vu Thanh, Lam Minh Nghiem, Huu Tai, the play received praise from the Arts Council of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City when recreating the heroic spirit of repelling the invaders with a colorful stage picture, where each artist is a "piece of the soul" of history.

Elaborate from music to costumes

The music by Meritorious Artist Minh Tam combines traditional ceremonial music with modern rhythms, creating a heroic yet sophisticated atmosphere. The costumes and stage art performed by Cong Minh - Yen Phuong are highly appreciated for their historical accuracy: from armor, helmets to royal silk, all are restored based on documents and museum artifacts. The choreography by Artist Thanh Son skillfully interweaves martial arts movements and ancient dance, increasing the epic quality of the play.

Composer Hoang Song Viet - Production Director - emotionally shared: "The Dai Viet map is a legacy left by the late People's Artist Thanh Tong. When recreating it, we kept it as precious as possible, seeing it as a way to show gratitude to the previous generation and foster the spirit of today's young artists."

He also emphasized: the goal of Dai Viet Stage is to give young actors the opportunity to practice their skills through classic roles, thereby becoming worthy successors of traditional Cai Luong.
