Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee commands "campaign" related to schools

(NLDO) - More than 3,300 billion VND will be invested in building schools in 15 border communes of Quang Tri, opening a new face for education in the border area of ​​the Fatherland.

On the afternoon of October 9, the Steering Committee for implementing the "Campaign to build schools in border communes" of Quang Tri province met to discuss working regulations and plans to implement investment in building a school system in border areas.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tran Phong - Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee - Head of Steering Committee; connecting online to 15 land border communes of the province.

According to the plan, the "campaign" was launched to implement the Politburo 's policy on investing in building schools for border communes. The Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee has established a Steering Committee, assigning the Department of Education and Training as the standing agency to monitor, urge and inspect the progress.

The province has sent a report to the Ministry of Education and Training proposing permission to build 10 new primary and secondary schools; at the same time, upgrade and expand 6 existing schools in 15 border communes, ensuring that each commune has at least one inter-level school with full and modern facilities.

The total investment capital requirement for the program is about VND 3,338 billion, of which the central budget accounts for 90%, the rest is local capital and other legal sources. The project is expected to start construction in 2025 and be completed in 2027, in which 2025 will focus on surveying, preparing for investment and starting construction of a number of qualified works; two years later, construction will be carried out simultaneously, completing all items.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province Tran Phong emphasized that this is an important political task, contributing to improving the quality of education and stabilizing the lives of people in border areas.

Mr. Tran Phong assigned the Department of Finance to advise on capital plans and investment mechanisms; the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board to act as the investor, preside over coordination with departments, branches and People's Committees of communes to complete land records, planning, legal procedures, and submit for approval of investment policies.

In particular, the contents under the authority of the People's Council of Quang Tri province must be completed before October 20, 2025.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested localities to step up propaganda, create consensus among the people, and promptly handle cases that hinder construction.
