On the afternoon of October 8, Lieutenant Colonel Vo Quang Tien - Deputy Chief of Con Tien Commune Police ( Quang Tri ) - said that he had just coordinated with local people to successfully rescue two Dutch tourists who were lost in the forest.
At around 6:00 p.m. on October 6, people returning from the forest discovered two tourists in an accident in Khe Me village, about 7km from the last house at the edge of the forest, so they reported it to the commune police.
These two people were riding a large-displacement motorbike following the directions on Google Maps and took a wrong turn onto a forest trail.
It was dark and raining heavily at the time, causing the car to slide down the cliff. The two tourists were not injured.
Receiving the news, about 10 people including commune police and local people organized a search.
The terrain is rugged and the roads are muddy, and can only be traveled by agricultural tractors.
It took the working group more than three hours to cross the forest and by 9:30 p.m. they were able to get the two tourists and their vehicle out of the danger zone.

After being rescued, the two tourists were moved to thank the rescuers, took souvenir photos with them, and wrote thank you letters. They said they had started from Hanoi and driven south on a tour but got lost.
These two people then moved to Cam Lo commune to rest and repair the car.

Commune police used agricultural tractors to rescue two tourists trapped in the forest.

Two tourists rode large motorbikes along a path made by locals in the middle of the forest.
